    Core i5 2500K run’s at 2.3ghz rather than 3.3ghz

I am having ASUS Sabertooth P67 motherboard and have installed Core i5 2500K and the problem that I am having is that the 2500K is not running as per the mentioned speed and I have conformed the same using CPUID as well as AIDA64, I have found that the system is nowadays beeping from 2 beeps up to 12 beeps in succession, I don’t know what is the issue all about, seems like an defective component in the system but then I am not able to track out the same, is there any software that can help me in testing the entire system and so?

See if your processor is not running at the mentioned speed than first make sure that the Enhance Intel SpeedStep Technology is disabled in the BIOS, actually this feature force the processor to run in to power consumption which slows down the running speed. As far as the beep codes is concerned discard the processor and check it out on a compatible motherboard, there are possibilities that it might have been fried, so just check the same as well.

I have disabled the Enhance Intel SpeedStep Technology in the BIOS and it seems to be doing the trick but then on the other hand when I tried running AIDA64 again then the throttling was appearing to be zero currently, I think it should have been changed according to your solution, I did not expected this Throttling, what do you think about the same??

It happens to reduce the power requirements as well as heat to increase the life of the processor, I personally don’t think that there is any sense in running the processor at full speed. As far as the Speedstep technology is concerned it will be bumping processor up when required as well in Turbo mode when it is enabled, the throttling should have not occurred, actually throttling happens when temperature of the processor exceeds certain level, you can also called it as a self-preservation function. Other thing I wanted to share is that the throttling will decrease the life span of the processor, so just check out the temp if it is exceeding required level for throttling.

I just wanted to know whether you are getting the beeps sound after booting?? Or it appears to be coming from the motherboard or the speakers?? Just check it out and then let me know for further help.
