How can i find out accurate temperature of Quad Core AMD Phenom II X4 B55?

I have the QuadCore AMD Phenom II X4 B55 for a couple of weeks now it works well but sometimes it gives the frees up problem. Hence I checked the temperature of the processor. In BIOS it specifies the temperature around the 40-50 degrees. This is the overall CPU temperature. I want to check the accurate temperature of the processor. Hence please help me to find out the accurate temperature of this processor and also suggest me the procedure to keep the temperature of the CPU as cool. Thanks in advance.
