gaming performance is affected by RAM in pc

I have recently purchased a computer at home. I like to play games. I almost have a gaming pc as told by the retailer. I want to know is that, does gaming performance affected by RAM in any way? I am a gamer so I want to ask this. What if I am playing a more intensive graphic game like modern warfare 2 on the top best setting, will ram play any role in this? Kindly help me know this and reply as early as possible. Any suggestions would be highly appreciated.

I would ask you to firstly tell your system’s configuration because otherwise it is difficult to say anything. Kindly mention your configuration in another post. It will be easy for others to guide you accordingly on the same. Well let me tell you that definitely ram plays a very important role. Computers like ram. More the ram better will be for playing games.

Well if you are playing high level games then ram is very important. If the ram is better than you get better texturing buffer. What is your system ram? If its 4GB than it is quite sufficient for any type of games. If you like playing games then surely you can go for 4gb ram instead of 1 gb or 2 gb. If you have a good ram then your game will load faster comparitively in 2 gb RAM or less.

According to me there will be small performance increase but not much. Few games need more than 2gb. But for multitasking there will be a big difference obviously. Ram is the most important part of the system. Games mainly depend upon the video graphics. Ram improves the minimal framrate but doesn’t do much in maximum framerate. According to me it’s everything about graphics card while playing games. If you have a strong graphic card and minimum of 2 gb ram then also there is going to be no problem. I have a gtx 570 graphic card and 2 gb of ram. I am able to play all my games properly. But yes surely brand quality of ram matters a lot. I would ask you if you ever want to spend money on playing games then make sure you spend money on the GPU, as gaming is all about GPU.

If you have more ram then it will take less time for the game to load the data from the hard disk. If you don’t have sufficient ram then the game will not run consistently at smooth framerates. Actually your average framerates depend on your graphics card and your CPU. Let me tell you that lack of ram will affect the loading time of the game. It will faster in 4gb ram then in 3 gb ram. If you have a 2gb of ram then also your at least safe for another 2 years.

Whereas graphics RAM is very important if you want to play at high resolution games like warfare 2.
