Facing problem to boot Toshiba Satellite C655-S5041 with my new 8GB RAM

I am using my Toshiba Satellite C655-S5041 laptop. Recently I had purchased a new 8GB RAM from Newegg. I installed the RAM into my laptop by following right methods (unplug, remove battery, etc.), when I booted my laptop with my new RAM installed I saw a black screen with a blinking cursor that freezes after a few seconds with manufacturers page loading. The problem is that, there are only 2 slots and my laptop cannot have more than 8GB of RAM. My BIOS is up-to-date and so long my computer boots up without any issue with my original RAM installed. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I was also facing the same problem. I then burned Memtest86+ 4.20 on to a CD, booted into it and started testing. I was facing few more random reboots. Once started, another time after an hour, I reseated the memory with the same results. I found on the Memtest board that people recommended turning off the Legacy USB support from BIOS, as it causes some memory-mapping error with Memtest86+. I did this and Memtest, ran fine with no problems. I rebooted into Windows 7 64-bit and so far I am not facing any crashes.

Is you’re a Satellite C655-S5047, or a Satellite C655D-S5041, as there is no C655-S5041.Toshiba laptops are more finicky about the RAM they will accept, regardless of the advertised compatibility of other modules. The only approved replacement of RAM modules for a Satellite C655-S5047 is shown here:
    Memory Upgrade
    Part Number Description
    • PA3669U-1M2G Toshiba 2GB DDR2-800 Memory Module
    • PA3670U-1M4G Toshiba 4GB DDR2-800 Memory Module

And for Satellite C655D-S5041 is shown here:
    Memory Upgrade
    Part Number Description
    • PA3676U-1M2G Toshiba 2GB DDR3-1066 Memory Module
    • PA3677U-1M4G Toshiba 4GB DDR3-1066 Memory Module

I have observed that black or white screen is not the issue from my observation. Always there are variations found in the memory modules of different manufacturers. There is always a higher specifications required for Toshiba machines. Memory modules are ordered in bulk by Toshiba they meet the specifications that are required. So there are no issues that the memory modules of other manufacturer will not work. The compatibility of other modules can be improved by ordering it from Toshiba or just buy Kingston’s best.
