Using Pentium 4 processor but showing 2 CPU properties

I have changed my motherboard last week now I m using Pentium 4 processor with windows XP operating system in my pc, but when I check for my system properties it is showing that I have 2 CPU’s. How come it is showing like this? I am having only 1 CPU? Is it possible that we can have 2 CPU’s? I have never heard about this earlier. Also I would like to know how we can have 2 CPU’s on the same motherboard. Can anyone help me out to know what is this exactly and how can I overcome it.

A CPU is made of many smaller components. There can be time when one of these components might be busy, while the other components are waiting to be utilized. Hyper-threading enables different parts of the CPU to work on different tasks concurrently. Thus a CPU with Hyper-Threading appears to be more than 1 CPU. Hyper-threading (HT) is Intel’s trademark for what it is more commonly referred to in the Industry as Simultaneous Multi-Threading (SMT). It is a technique which enables a CPU to act as a multiple CPU’s

If you are having Pentium 4 processor then it can happen. Because Pentium 4 came with a feature called Hyper Threading, which means that your CPU can handle 2 processes at once which help us to multi-task faster. It shows so because you have 1 Physical Core and 1 Logical Core which makes up as 2 CPU. But it is nearly impossible to have 2 actual Pentium 4 CPU’s, unless you are using a server motherboard.

Even I was facing the same problem but I was told that it was not a problem; the processor has 2 cores which window detects it as 2 separate processor. It is possible to have 2 CPU’s on 1 motherboard, but you require a special motherboard for it. You can also use dual core processor instead of 2 separate CPU’s or even you can use Quad processor.
