What to do after installing a new CPU?

Hi, I have a desktop in which I was having a CPU from the Intel which is I3530 and as I heard about the new one, I just planned to have that, and after some days I bought a new CPU form Intel only named i5 760, which is pretty good at their performance, but I am not sure that the drivers I3 was using will be the same for the I5 also. Or shall I have to change the drivers and what other things that I have to take in the consideration? Need suggestion.

That’s very good that you have bought a new CPU for you, and off course you’ll get the better performance for sure, but as you are asking, it seems you are little bit confused about the drivers, thus I would say you don’t have to install any such drivers after putting a new CPU in your motherboard, I think you just have to change the BIOS for using the new CPU, and I am not sure, I think you can continue with the old none also.

No, whatever you have mentioned, from that it seems like you are not very much familiar with the computer, but still I would say, it is not that much difficult, the processors are the things that I would say the part which is mean to use as a plug and play. There is no such extra drivers used for installing a new CPU and all that, thus I hope you are cleared with your doubts, but I think you have to update the BIOS.

See I would like to recommend you that you should buy a new CPU fan also for your motherboard, because as you have increased the CPU, thus as the performance increases the level of heat that it generates it also increases, thus all other factor in the motherboard gets affected, so you should completely test your mother board and then only carry with it. Simply upgrade the CPU fan and the most important thing that is the BIOS for the CPU, that you must have to upgrade.

Hey thank you guys for your immediate replies, and I yeah it is right that I am not very much familiar with the computer peripherals and because of that only this is happening, ok that’s good I will also buy the new CPU fan also, but now please tell me which one would be better and, from where should I get it? And how about the BIOS? I have a CD which I get with the motherboard, so would I get the BIOS driver from there only, or I have to download it from anywhere else?

No, I am not sure that each of the CD contains the driver, because the CD which I have doesn’t contain any such drivers, but still you should check first, and if suppose you didn’t get, you would always have the option for downloading them, you can download it from its official website, and yeah you can buy a CPU fan from the local computer hardware store, just give them the model number of your motherboard and they would give you the different models which will best fit on that, and then according to your budget you can buy any one among them.

As far as I know when we install any new CPU to the motherboard, we should consider some things regarding the CPU temperature, the BIOS driver and the power supply, nothing more than these I would like to recommend you that you should put some thermal paste on the top of the new CPU, if it doesn’t have any, but it is there, then no need to worry about, and make sure that the power supply that you’re using has enough capability to power up the new CPU.
