Q6600 CPU fan is spinning at high speed on Inspiron 530

I recently got the new computer system which is Dell Inspiron 530 and having Intel core2Quad Q6600 processor on it. I have observed that when I turn the computer on then CPU fan starts spinning at higher speeds as well as I have also noticed that the cabinet fan also spins at higher speed. So I want to check for the problem and soon replace the hardware which are faulty, so please let me know the possibility of any of it. Also let me know the utility through which I measure the fan speed.

I think there are many possible cases which are causing this. So I would tell you some of them so that you could give a try for these one. So here are the possible reasons for this.
    • First case might be that it may occur because system fans might have connected incorrectly.
    • You might have mistakenly configured SDR improperly.
    • Compatible chassis
    • the last possible one may be because of wrong Bios Settings.
So step wise have a look on these and try to make all these proper.

Well you will have to do some kind of troubleshooting so that you can make a normal fan speed. First of all you will have to reseat the processor and check that it is assembled properly then also check for the heat sink and verify that it is fitted properly and then after check that the fan is also fitted properly. After you have reseated the above mentioned components then start your system and observe whether the same problem still exists.

You can test the speed of the fan and then note down that at how much rotations per minute your fans on the board are spinning. So for that download an application called SPEEDFAN I think it is nice utility which would even help you to control fan speeds in your system. So using it you can reduce your CPU fan speed. After this your fan would spin on utmost speed that you want and even cool your CPU and then you can have a better system with quad experience.

This is sometimes happening because of the BIOS firmware which is installed on your system and has got corrupted and thus because of that it is affecting the fan speed and is spinning high in your case. So in order to control that, you should try to update the BIOS of your computer so that it would make the firmware perfect and then see whether it helps you in controlling the same. This is also one of the possible solutions to this so try these one.

I recommend you to go in to the BIOS settings and then check that all possible settings are correct. Look whether there is any option through which you will be able to get help from that or not. I am not extremely specific about the correct configuration, but I am acquainted with that there is some adjustments that can regulate the speed of fan RPM according to your needs. But make sure that you don’t make it too low, because if it becomes very low, then it would affect the system. So you can change the speed to a low number than present and see if it can solve the problem for you.

There are many programs available on the Internet that can help you to resolve the problem by modifying the fan speed so I suggest you that before installing any software, you should see for the instruction of the software and then you get the complete idea how you can use the software. If you are not sure about any BIOS settings then default all these settings by loading system defaults and then save these settings and the system would have the normal optimized settings which are recommended one.
