Does RAM upgrade will need to rebuild my Windows 7

My friend mailed me a weird doubt on this current upgrade. He has a Rampage III Black Edition motherboard. For better performance he had ordered new set of Asus P6T ram. Now he want to ask that after installing those sticks does he will need to rebuilt the entire operating system. He is using Windows 7 64 bit currently. I prefer that he might need to run some driver updates that's all. Now there would nothing be more needed to be done. But still I had doubt about the question.

It is not needed so. You are just adding new sticks of ram and they does not really do to your operating system. Rebuilding of Windows occur when you change your motherboard or your hard drive. At this time major hardware's are change and some time on cpu upgrade also. But mostly for RAM this is really not needed. You can face certain blue screen if the ram configuration do not match to your motherboard. At that time you can run recovery to check that either it is hardware or software fault.

Run memtest in that case. You will find ample of Linux bootable disc which are also called as Live CD. You can boot from that get test your ram after installation. There are some minor fix called as startup repair that you can perform if you found your operating system crashed. For startup repairing you will need Windows recovery tool that can fix more the problems. You can then run the repair from bootable Windows cd and it scans and fix the issues.

That is correct if you face error then run Windows recovery console. Adding extra ram will definitely boost your systems performance. There is nothing to deal with crash. BSOD occurs only when you have issue with ram incompatibility and if the ram sticks are not installed properly. At this time startup repair can be the best choice and nothing else. If you face any major issue of black screen or windows not booting at all after continous restart then re-install your operating system.

Everything lies in your hard drive. You are just adding extra rams and nothing major will happen till there is not hardware fault. The hard drives are not touched at all so you do not need to worry. Install those ram properly and boot your system. See that the bios properly shows you the ram installed. Then if you face error then use the old rams and boot back. If that works fine then I doubt the issue can be due to incompatibility of hardware. It can be fixed by updating bios.

It is right most of the time startup repair fix the issues. This is just an hardware failure when your operating system collapse. It can be collapse due to bad file, or missing system files. So that reasons really does not match with the current scenario where you are planning just to buy and add new ram sticks. Even if you face blue screen that will be a ram error only. You can remove and put back your old ram to check back again.
