    Low CPU Frequency Windows XP

Hi all, am having the Windows XP installed in my computer and last yesterday, when I checked the CPU frequency in my computer then it shows me that as 1.4G. I think that is very low. Below are the specification for my computer.
    • CPU: P4 2.8G C
    • MainBoard: Intel D845PEBT2.
    • DIMM: 1GB
    • OS: Win XP SP2

I am not able to understand that why that is giving such a low frequency. Is this normal or do I need to perform anything to increase the frequency. Please reply to this thread.

What is the software that you are using to get the frequency of the CPU in your case? You have not mentioned anything about that. The problem can be with the software that you are using to test the CPU frequency and that is the reason that you are getting the problems like this. Anyway, if you want then you can make use of the PIU test and that will give you the accurate result for that. I am using the same and I am sure that you will get the exact reading for that without any problem.

I am agreeing the above post that the problem may be due to the software that is used to check the frequency of the CPU. If you want then you can make use of the Intel’s own CPU identification tool and that will give you the exact reading for that. This will be the best for you to use if you want to get more accurate reading for that. I have seen many of the threads where using other software to determine this causes the problem with the reading of that and finally the CPU identification tool resolves the problem with that. Please reply back if that helps you.

There is one more software that you can use to do that and that is CPUid. This is the best in the entire above mentioned one. It will help you to determine the Sandy Bridge cores temperature and power meter, enhanced clock report, Turbo activation or remove, hold up for UEFI BIOS and AVX accelerated benchmarsk. So just for this on internet and download that on your computer and I hope that this will solve the problem for you. There might be some other hardware problem for your computer and you should also check for that.

I consider that this is the problem with the harddisk in your computer. There might be ksome bug in your hard drive and that is causing the problem with that. If you want to check that then you can run the “chkdsk” on your computer. This will search the hard drive in your computer for any such kind of bug. If that can find any suck kind fault then it will fix that issue. After completion of the process, it will provide you the detailed report of the that and if that is related to the memory bug than this will resolve that as well.
