AMD X2 6000+ vs Agena based Phenom

I have one choice to make from Agena Phenoms and the X2 6000+ as they both fit well into my budget. I find the advanced Phenoms are a little expensive but that is not an issue as I am after quality. I am a software developer and am looking forward to hook one of these processors. So I just want to know which one is really worth and what all features do they have. I am looking forward for your opinions.

Unless and until you hook a Phenom II, try switching to 5x00 Black Edition, and I would suggest you to clock it to around 3.0Ghz. One thing you need to make sure is to get a motherboard with SB750, because it will provide you with the alternative of upgrade to P II in the future. The typical Phenoms are fairly dreary so you should rather try for an AMD Athlon X2 7750. So I hope you switch to the better one after all this is a question of personal preference.

I have been using the AMD Athlon X2 6000 since two years and till this date I have had no problems with it. It is very versatile, I use to play all my PC version games at 1920 x 1200 and had no issues at all. Except for the Crysis game which was indeed very buggy I have had no issues. I am thinking to move on the phenom 2 955 next month and would clock it to around 4 ghz for fast performance. If you think the price of Phenom is too high than you can go for the AMD Athlon X2 6000.

The Agena based Phenom has fascinating features like it Processes 128bit SSE instructions in one pass. Independent management of hearts with technology DICE where DICE stands for Dynamic Independent Core Engagement. Now it shares L3 cache of 2MB. Management of the HyperTransport 3.0 in which the rate proportional to the speed of the processor is permanently set at 75% of the CPU speed up to 2.6 GHz bandwidth of 41.6 GB. Pipeline level increased from 12 to 16. It includes heat dissipation of 45W to 89W for low voltage versions.

Phenom can quickly reach their performance limits due to high energy consumption. The energy consumption of individual transistors decreases a from 65 to 45 nm. AMD has also been forced to raise the TDP, from 125 to 140 watts, so as to to carry Phenom 2.5 GHz to 2.6 GHz. The 45 nm technology allows Phenom II to be better in many aspects. In terms of speed, power consumption AMD has taken a big step forward as compared to the first-generation Phenom.

AMD Phenom II is a quad core processor that has a substantial difference from the Agena core of the first Phenom. The clock frequency of the Phenom processors along with Phenom II was increased to reach the threshold of 3 GHz. Another important feature added is the reduction of supply voltage to the core, which should allow plenty of room for overclocking. In India the price of AMD Athlon II X3 445 3.1 GHz Processor is Rs. 4290 and totally depends on you as to which AMD Phenom do you prefer.

AMD Athlon 64 X2 6000 + is truly amazing piece of architecture. It offers an operating frequency which has never been achieved on Athlon 64. There is a slight increase in the frequency with a new version of its core the Athlon 64 X2 6000 + has the ability to stand up to its best of the Core 2 Duo from Intel. Moreover for gaming purposes I would suggest you a cheap Athlon X2 6000 over the Phenom.
