Intel core i5 750 vs. Amd Phenom II X4 965

I have two options to choose from, one is the Amd Phenom II X4 965 and the other is the Intel core i5 750. Since years I have been using the AMD processors and have had no issues with the processor. I am still an AMD fan and prefer AMD as I found AMD was a good platform for gaming purposes. But recently everybody’s been talking about the Intel core i5 750so I just want to know more about them before I go for one of them.

If we compare their overclocking abilities, both are considerably good. What I have observed is that at higher frequencies, the Intel core i5 is a little faster, and is loaded with powerful overclock. You can achieve speeds of 4.0GHz with both the processors. But I have to say that in terms of stability I would rather go for AM3 platform which has the ability to provide support for new processors for at least the next 2 to 3 years. But if I were to make a choice it would be the Intel core i5 750.

Re: Intel core i5 750 vs. Amd Phenom II X4 965

Intel Core i5-750 has included the technology of Hyper-Threading. This technology has led to a significantly better utilization of the computing units by any physical processing core that functions as a virtual dual-core processor. Intel has also excluded the third memory channel driving the core i5 750 to only two channels instead of three DDR3 channels in parallel. Intel has made significant enhancements regarding the memory clock, that has effectively increased from 1066 to 1333. So I would rather suggest you to go for the Intel Core i5-750.

I would suggest you to go for Core i5 as it has got a new slot in 1156 with signal contacts because of the heavily modified platform. And even the new quad core processor is not so compatible with the 900 series of Core i7 for socket LGA1366. The rest of the components of the core i5-750 is similar to the Core i7. However, the turbo mode is dependent on the heat of the CPU and the current that is applied to it. The thermal design power within the specification is still in continuous operation and this is the reason that the CPU does not get overheated. So it no longer has any issues of overheating and you can blindly go for the Core i5.

Intel Core i5 processor of the second generation is a lovely option. With the Intel Core i5, everything seems to get easy and fast. I really have to say that this quad-core processor is loaded with Intel Turbo Boost Technology 2.0 and allows four times multitasking. It can adapt to your requirements and helps to protect your data with enhanced security features. So i would recommend you to go for the Intel processor

I prefer a new high end processor, the Phenom X4 Black Edition 965. Phenom X4 955 Black edition, is a new processor which is clocked at 3.4 GHz. It provides a gain of 200 MHz in frequency of operation compared to its predecessor which sounds very interesting which I assume will prove to be a boost to its performance. But if you really compare them the Intel Core i5 processor is slightly faster in terms of performance.

The AMD Phenom X4 965 Black Edition offers the same features as its previous versions. The Black Edition has added new features to the CPU with freely selectable multiplier. AMD Phenom X4 965 Black Edition supports features like the cool n quiet 3.0 power-saving mode, along with 32 or 64 bit operating systems, with virtualization through the AMD-V, and the instruction set SSE4a with protection from buffer overflows. It is energy efficient and consumes around 44.2 points per watt.
