Intel i7 950 or AMD Phenom II X6 1090T latest games

I know that while seeing this thread you will loose patience because everyone is asking a similar question for their gaming rig. Right now I am constructing a new computer mainly for gaming purpose. I need to play latest games with maximum graphic experience. I need an advice about choosing between 2 CPUs. I choose 2 good CPUs from different manufacturer. The one is Intel core i7 950 and the other one is AMD Phenom II X6 1090T. I know that both are at good end. But my problem is which is suitable for high end gaming. I also heard that new model of Intel processor called Sandy Bridge and going to release in 2011. So what should I do now?

My choice will be definitely phenom x6. It is not that I am a big fan of AMD and I choose it for that purpose but likes something not in AMD but in phenom X6 processor that I couldn’t get in Intel i7. I hope you have understood what I told. I also have a good gaming rig at my home with this phenom processor and I can play even the latest games very smoothly. Note that I used High end graphic cards for this but as I can say by the side of CPU the phenom performed well for me. My brother has sme PC configuration like me with same Video card but the processor is Intel i7 950. I told several of my friends to experience the same game in both PC and I got the winner by their feedback.

The sandy bridge is not out yet so leave it aside till we get the actual experience and test result from those series processor. AS far as my concern the processor will not involve much in gaming, it is mainly about the ability and quality of the Video card and RAM. I accept that for high graphic games you will need a faster processor also. But even those latest games can run on midrange computer. The only difference you get is the graphic. You can play latest games here but at low graphics and with some lags. For some games you may not able to point out the target and what actually the background of the game is. So might need to care about the Graphic Card, RAM along with CPU.

I know that the phenom X6 little cheaper than the i7 950 but I doesn’t mean that both are going to perform well when comes to the gaming. As far as I know from several reviews from the games the phenom x6 is one of the nastiest gaming CPU compared to Intel i7. Even the Intel i5 will perform well over the phenom. The reason is that while playing latest or high graphic related or 3D game you will get much low FPS rate on X6 compared to i7. So I think you should go for Intel now. Sandy Bridge is also out of reach and don’t have much information about it regarding its performance in gaming world. So better watch in future.

There is no problem either you choose phenom X6 or Intel i7 950 for gaming. Both are the good processor for its kind. You consider your PC only for gaming then I advise you to go for AMD because it has an affordable price. If you are using your PC other than gaming like video editing, 3D modeling, CAD and graphic design as well as coding then the best option is i7. Many user have revealed the performance of this processor in all platform and they all gave the vote for its capability.
