Comparison of NorhTec's New Gecko edubook performance of Xcore86

I am planning to buy a Edubook which has several interesting options. Now I want to know the actual performance of this from the actual user’s feedback. I don’t anything about its performance and how it compares.
    • Is it the best that is running the $65 Xcore86 running @1GHz?
    • At what extent it can be overclocked/modded?
    • How good it interact with the Linux’s ACPI ?
    • How it can be idled down?
    • Can we use its in LCD on daylight? Is it appears good?

If anyone have suggestion about this device please post me because it will help me to clarify the doubts

I will mention several good and bad things about this Edubook. After that it is purely your choice to buy it.The disadvantages in this Laptop are –
    • No Advance Power Management (APM) for now.
    • For HDI sound there is no Vanilla kernel support.

The Advantages or the good news are-
    • There no AC/DC adapter only integrated powers cord.
    • AA powered 8 cells lasts incredibly long.
    • Good Sensitivity Touchpad.
    • The exceptional bright screen good for broad daylight.
    • No Noise in while CPU operation.
    • Runs Vanilla Slackware
    • 1mm thick bottom of the case.
    • Decent durability and impression.

There is no problem if it lacks with CMOV. It can still be able to perform well as possible. Without CMOV instruction it can server well. But only the disappointing thing it’s of its delicate power. Instead of its delicate balance in power and performance it can be quite usable. It didn’t include much 3D acceleration and the MIPS. For the personal usage it is the best thing to carry along with you.

Before buying this laptop I want to give some of the important information regarding it lack in important features. The CPU in this does not contain the CMOV instruction. It is an instruction new to Pentium pro family. The instruction does a test and performs a register move all at once. This is optional in i686. In other way when Gcc codes for i686 then it also generates for Pentium pro. At least it does with modern Gcc versions. The modern versions will generate the CMOV instructions.
