Why haven't 4GB DIMMs become mainstream

I was just wondering out that why don't a 4GB DIMMs is never out for use. We goes to buy a 2GB ram slow usually or 1GB. There are companies which can provide us a single 4GB stick for the same. I want to add a new ram to my computer as the old one is blowed up. What points should I kept in my mind before going for a new ram or for going an upgrade in my system. Thanks.

The maximum capacity of RAMs which is supported by any motherboard is 2GB due to which I think the 4 GB does not goes out so easily. A pc in under 64-bit computer can handle up to 16 million terabytes theoretical slant to 128GB on Microsoft systems. So 64 bit systems gives you a higher support for memory support. Check your motherboards configuration for that.

To see if the brand of choice is compatible with your pc go to the manufacturer's website which gives the pc and compatible motherboards with their Ram. It is best to do this because in some cases even brand RAM will not be compatible with your PC. Obviously the greater the amount of RAM is the most high-performance PC is. There might be some high-end motherboards for that. Some of the good models are provided by Corsiar.

The frequency of the Ram is more important, so if there is more RAM then the faster your system is. And your system also gets interesting for overclocking. You can determine the working of ram by the timings which are the numbers you can see on the ram. This are the values which gives you much more information on the same.

Some motherboards include memory controllers compatible with dual channel and triple channel: It aims at exploiting the memory modules in pairs to combine the bandwidth and thus maximizing the system's capabilities. This information is found in bios, your manual, some sites selling the Ram, or simply by opening the PC and there are different colors, so showing this compatibility slots. Although nowadays the performance gain seems limited by the system it is good to know there.

No right not there is no 4GB ram support provided. Because of that there is some limitations in the hardware and functionality also. But on the same hand processor are also very powerful where they do not put much pressure on ram and enable the smoothness of the system. Try to look for better solution don't go for higher and expensive model they does not worth.

The 4GB Dimms might consume some time to come. This is due to the limitation of hardware which are out in the market. There are also certain limitations for operating system also which does not support the same. But there are some server level boards which has higher support for ram and processors. You can look for the same online for further support.

Re: Why haven't 4GB DIMMs become mainstream

I had even not heard about a single stick of 4GB ram. There might be some server level system which are using the same. But they will not work on our system. Our 32 bit system does not support a much higher amount of hardware and I believe that in future there will be appropriate support for the same. But the cpu which are released today are enough strong to deal with all the system software and applications.
