    What is Vnc

In computing, Virtual Network Computing (VNC) is a graphical desktop sharing system that uses the RFB protocol to remotely control another computer. It transmits the keyboard and mouse events from one computer to another, relaying the graphical screen updates back in the other direction, over a network.

    Re: What is Vnc

I will add some more information, VNC consists of two parts, the client and the server. The server is the slave program on the machine that shares its screen, and the client (also called Viewer) is the master program that looks and possibly interacts with the server. VNC protocol is based on the Remote Frame Buffer, with features such as "Insert a rectangle of pixel at position x, y data. However, the server sends small rectangles from the Framebuffer customer. This method, in its simplest form, using lots of bandwidth. There are several methods to reduce this use. For example, there are several forms of encoding, Methods to determine what is the most effective way to reduce this. The RFB client and server agree on the encoding method used. The encoding of the simplest, which is supported by all clients and servers, is the Raw encoding where pixels are transmitted from left to right by row, and transferred after the first screen, only the rectangles that change is sent. Because of this, this method works very well if only a small amount of the screen changes from one image to another (like a mouse pointer that moves on the desktop, or typed text), but the bandwidth utilization increases significantly if a lot of pixels change and therefore must be transmitted.

It is a graphical desktop sharing system that uses the RFB protocol to remotely control another computer. VNC software provides cross-platform support allowing remote control between different types of computers.
