    The software Intel PROSet / Wireless is used to organize, alter and supervise network profiles to be connected to a network. It also includes advanced settings such as power management and channel selection for configuring ad hoc networks. If you utilize the automatic configuration service for Microsoft Windows XP as wireless manager, you can immobilize it from the Wireless Networks tab of Microsoft Windows.To stop using the service for automatic configuration of Microsoft Windows XP as your wireless manager, follow these steps :
    1. Click Start> Control Panel.
    2. Double-click Network Connections.
    3. Click the right mouse button on the wireless network connection.
    4. Click Properties.
    5. Click Wireless Networks.
    6. Verify that Use Windows to configure my wireless network is not selected. If it is, uncheck it.
    7. Click OK. This confirms that the Intel PROSet / Wireless is configured to manage your network profiles.

    The Administration tool is used by the system user with administrative privileges on the computer. This tool is used to configure profiles common (shared), profiles of connection before logon / common and permanent connection profiles. Administration tool system can also be used by a computer to configure the user settings in the Intel (R) PROSet / Wireless and create modules for custom installers to export to other systems. System administration tool is accessible from the Tools menu. It must be selected in the custom installation of the software Intel PROSet / Wireless to display it in the Tools menu.

    Re: Intel PROSet Administrator Tool

    While focusing on Intel PROSet, I would like you to check connection before logon / common. Patterns of connection before logon / common are applied before the opening session of a user. If the Authentication feature is only installed, the connection is established before the Windows logon sequence. If this feature is not installed, the profile is applied when the user session is active. Patterns of connection before logon / common always appear at the top of the list of profiles. Users can set the priority of the profiles they have created, but not the priority of connection profiles before logon / common. These profiles are displayed at the top of the profiles list, Intel PROSet / Wireless automatically attempts to connect to the profiles of directors before attempting the profiles created by users.

    The important points of Connection feature before logon / common are:
    • The Connect feature before logon / common is active only when opening a Windows session.
    • The types of profiles can be created as a profile connection before logon / common:
      • profiles 802.1x MD5 , PEAP , TTLS or EAP-FAST credentials using the "Use username and Windows password" or "Use username and password following" at configuration of security settings;
      • profiles LEAP credentials using 'Ask the user name and password "when configuring security settings;
      • profiles 802.1x PEAP or TTLS using user credentials and machine (the user must have administrative rights to use the machine credentials);
      • profiles TLS using digital certificates to verify the identity of a client or a server.
      • profiles EAP-SIM using a SIM (Subscriber Identity Module) to validate the credentials from the network.
      • all common profiles or user non-802.1x (Open and WEP profiles).
    • A connection profile before logon / common is applied to opening a Windows session by a user.

    You will find below a description of how the Login option before logon / common boot. The basic assumption is that a profile is registered. This profile has registered valid security settings marked Use username and password for Windows passwords that are applied during Windows logon.
    • After starting the system, enter your domain username and Windows password.
    • Click OK. The page state profile connection before logon / common displays the progress of the network connection. Once the wireless adapter is associated with an access point network, this page closes and the user is connected.
      • If the access point corresponding rejects your credentials during the connection before logon / Common Information page authentication profile appears and prompts you to enter your information.
      • Enter your credentials.
      • Click OK. The profile is applied and the Status page displays the progress of the connection until the Windows session is open.

    The efficacy of WiFi by default is used to configure, modify and supervise connection profiles to a network. This software also consists of advanced settings such as settings for power management and channel selection, for configuring ad hoc networks. If you use Windows XP, you can use either the Service Wireless Zero Configuration, evening the utility for managing Wi-Fi network profiles. However, if the network requires authentication LEAP, you must use the WiFi connection utility for configuring LEAP profiles. The Profile List lists the user profiles existing in the order in which they must be used. Use the up and down arrows to arrange the profiles in a specific order to automatically connect to a wireless network.

    System administration tool is intended for the administrator or user with administrator privileges on the computer. This tool allows the administrator to restrict the level of control available to users of this computer on their wireless connections. This tool is also used to configure profiles common (shared). Users can not change settings or profiles of directors, unless they have the password required for this tool. A password, which is both safe and difficult to guess, must be chosen. These settings and profiles can be exported into a module to other network computers.
