    DG43GT problem

Since, Intel provides basic information on installing a few Linux distributions such as Redhat, SuSE & Ubuntu on Intel Desktop Boards, I prefer an Intel motherboards. So I told my cousin to go for DG43GT board. After purchasing that she is having lot of problems. Mainly she is having the heating and memory problem. So please provide some steps for troubleshooting, so that everytime she would not have to call an engineer. Expecting some detailed information from your side.

If the system does not boot the first integration, then you should check the power socket. If the power cable with connector 2x2 or 2x4 (depending on your motherboard) is not plugged into the power connector 12V CPU located near the base processor, the system 's not begin. Witnesses on the card and front panel are switched on, the CPU fan running but nothing appears on the screen. If you have installed an incompatible processor, the system will not prime. Verify that the processor model chosen is appropriate to the motherboard. Some processors require specific versions of card and BIOS. See Compatible Processors > If the processor is compatible, try removing and reinstalling to make sure it is installed correctly.

If the CPU overheats, it is possible that the system does not boot or it stops after booting.
    • Make sure the CPU fan is connected and working well.
    • Verify that the thermal interface material (grease, gel or other) has been successfully applied to the processor.
    • Make sure the power supply fan is working properly, like any other block of external ventilation.
    • Check the air intake vents of external fans are unobstructed and are separated by 5 to 10 cm from the walls and others.

The lack of priming may be caused by the configuration of the screen. Check the following :
    • Check that the screen is connected and turned on.
    • Make sure the video cable connecting the screen well system.
    • Check the brightness and contrast of the screen. It may be simply that the screen is dimmed if you find nothing.
    • Most screens have a witness indicating their status:
      • it is green, the display is properly fed and receives a video signal.
      • If it is orange, the screen is powered but not receiving a signal. In general, this indicates that the problem is the computer.
      • If light does not light at all is that the problem is the screen. Ensure it is connected to a power source. If the outlet is associated with a switch, make sure it is well lit position. If the problem persists, move the screen or plug it into another power or another system.

The absence of priming are usually caused by following -
    1. If you installed memory modules incompatible, the system may not boot. Check the memory you have installed has been tested with your card. See Memoirs tested > If the memory is compatible, try to remove the modules to reinstall them.
    2. On some motherboards, you must install the strips in the order of the berries. Check the manual of your card.
    3. If you installed memory modules are defective, the system may not boot. The sound signals (one or two or three) to boot indicate faulty memory. To isolate a defective strip, prime the system before a single strip at a time.

The absence of priming can be caused by the following incidents at the power supply, chassis or fans :
    • Verify that your chassis and power supply is appropriate for the model and the frequency of the processor and motherboard you have.
    • A block or ATX12V SFX12V with a 2x2 sheet is required for all motherboards designed for Intel Pentium 4 and later models. The power consumption of high end video cards, sound cards, peripherals and Pentium 4 processor will exceed the capacity of a 5 V power standard ATX or SPX.
    • Do not use the cable with a 2x2 sheet on a block former, not compatible.
    • Verify that the power supply can support all devices used by the system.
    • Make sure the power cord is connected to the power supply and electrical outlet.
    • If the electrical supply is provided with a switch, make sure it is turned on.
    • Verify that the supply voltage is correct (230 or 115 V).
    • Verify that no foreign body within the chassis (like a screw) does not cause mass.
    • Attach the motherboard correctly at the base of the frame with washers and bolts. Do not screw too.
    • If possible, use a voltmeter to verify that each output of the power supply is correct. If output is low (especially the +5 V output), replace the power supply.
    • If possible, use a voltmeter to verify that the signal is 5 V. PowerGood If the signal is less than 0.10 V, there may be short-circuit or overload, causing in turn a permanent reset. In this case, it is better to replace the power supply.

An electrical short circuit or overload can prevent the system from starting. Verify that the short-circuit or overload by removing the elements that are not needed as additional controllers or IDE / ATAPI. Keep only the motherboard, power supply, memory and processor. If the system starts, it is possible that a short circuit or an overload of the components that you removed or one of these components is defective. Move each of them one by one ancillary components until you've isolated the problem. If the problem persists after removing the auxiliary components, it may be a failure of the motherboard, power supply, memory or processor.

If you installed a new add-in card on a PCI or PCI Express and the system any more:
    • Some PCI video cards require more electrical power .
    • Remove and reinstall the new card to make sure it is secure.
    • Try the card in a different slot, if possible.
    • Verify that other devices and cables inside the chassis were not disturbed and released to the installation of the new card.

Some changes in the BIOS settings (such as synchronization and latency of the chipset or memory, the CPU clock frequency, etc..) Can cause boot problems. If you can enter the BIOS setup by pressing F2, restore the default settings using F9. Save and exit the BIOS setup. Otherwise, clear the CMOS settings:
    1. Turn off all devices connected to the PC.
    2. Unplug the computer industry.
    3. Remove the cover.
    4. Locate the battery on the card (see below).
    5. With a medium flat screwdriver, carefully release the battery from its connector. Locate the direction of the poles on the battery.
    6. Wait one hour before returning the battery.
    7. Replace the cover.
    8. Reconnect the computer and all peripherals.
