    AMD Dual Core Athlon 64 X2 Optimizer

    I have read on the AMD site, that their are some program which would allow certain applications that do not take advantage of specific Windows kernel. I am not having much information about this optimizer. I have posted here, so that someone hanging out there will provide some useful information about the AMD Dual Core Athlon 64 X2 Optimizer. Please do the needful as soon as possible.!!

    Re: AMD Dual Core Athlon 64 X2 Optimizer

    AMD has a new version of its utility Dual-Core Optimizer (COD) that corrects performance problems between AMD processors with two cores and some video games. Some applications have indeed difficult to measure accurately the number of CPU cycles, processor Dual-Core Athlon 64 X2 and Turion 64 X2 which causes glitches and performance very low. This problem does not say that the Phenom processors. This utility Amd Dual-Core Optimizer actually installs a driver named Low Level Device Driver (LLD) which takes care of synchronizing the Time Stamp Counter (TSC) at regular intervals. The new version 1.1.4 of the Dual-Core Optimizer corrects a problem installing the driver on Windows Vista LLD. Hope that this post will help you to increase your information about the AMD Optimizer.

    A new utility is available for official AMD dual-core processors general public, the Athlon 64 X2. This utility Amd Dual-Core Optimizer installed a specific driver himself called Special Tools Driver. This utility also modifies the boot.ini file system used to provide information booting Windows. In the file boot.ini the parameter "usepmtimer" is added at the end of the line as below.
    [Boot loader]
    timeout = 30
    default = multi (0) disk (0) rdisk (0) partition (1) \ WINDOWS
    [Operating systems]
    multi (0) disk (0) rdisk (0) partition (1) \ WINDOWS = "Microsoft Windows XP Professional" / noexecute = optin / fastdetect / usepmtimer

    Re: AMD Dual Core Athlon 64 X2 Optimizer

    You're perhaps thinking about using this utility AMD Dual-Core Optimizer. It simply helps approve a problem well known Athlon 64 X2 that occurs with some software and in particular with certain video games. In fact, to reckon the amount of cycles performed by the processor which may have dissimilar interests, some video games have been programmed to use the fundamental functionality of Read Time Stamp Counter (RDTSC) as an alternative of going through the functions provided by regular Windows. The difficulty is that the function RDTSC is now no longer precisely measure the number of CPU cycles, especially when using power saving features or with processors equipped with multiple cores as Athlon 64 X2 which however is very well managed by the operating system. This leads to many troubles of synchronization in these applications cannot work then or at least in very bad circumstances (bugs, performance execrable ...).

    I totally agree with the problems that are mentioned by the 'MattyBoy'. But there is solutions for that problems. To solve these problems, there were far more solutions to combine together as installing the latest patch the game in question, install the Microsoft patch which you will find on an official site of Microsoft. Installing this will disable power saving processor or assign the execution of the process of video game problematic to one of two hearts. This utility Amd Dual-Core Optimizer for the Athlon 64 X2 would normally eliminate many of the bugs and substantially improve the performance of applications still using the RDTSC.

    Re: AMD Dual Core Athlon 64 X2 Optimizer

    You should know about an Optimization your dual core CPU. This program, called AMD Dual-Core Optimizer, however, should be known to all owners of dual-core AMD processors like the Athlon or Turion 64 X2. More concretely, and without going into much technical detail, it will install on your Windows XP operating system specific driver named Special Tools Driver who take the opportunity to edit your boot.ini file by adding to a parameter for optimizing your computer. Once this change effective, you should not encounter the problems that had a lot of people know of bugs and performance loss in some applications, including video games. This actually comes from the use by them of an instruction (function RDTSC) to count the number of cycles performed by the CPU, this feature did not work well with dual core processors. program provided by AMD therefore corrected this problem.
