Video and Memory issues

Hi,

I'm experiencing two issues with my Gigabyte GA-K8U-939 mobo:
1. While I see 1G in bios, Windows will recognize only 768M
2. The only video card which works is a very old, 16M, ATI card. Recently I tried to replace it with a Radeon 9550 SE 128M but it doesn't work.

I don't know whether the two issue are related (is it possible that the 16M video card allocates 256M for itself?). The first issue is less painful. The second one is a real nag. Any help will be greatly appreciated.

Yes the card must be sharing the system RAM to give optimum performance and that is why the system is showing 768Mbs of RAM. The BIOS of the motherboard must be upgraded so that it detects newer devices connected to it. Search for the method to upgrade the BIOS depending on the model of the motherboard you are using and upgrade it.

I already upgraded my bios to the latest version (F5). Still doesn't work. Any other ideas?

Yes. Mobo supports up to 4G.
