Will my current motherboard suffice or should I upgrade?

My motherboard is an Intel Pentium 4 2.8 GHZ motherboard (D101GCC x86 family 15 model 4 stepping 9). I have a very strict budget with which I'm only able to upgrade my RAM to 2GB DDR and buy an ATI Radeon HD 4670 1 GB. And this is going to be my first major upgrade in years.

Since my motherboard is very old, it can only support a max of 2 GB RAM and the ATI Radeon HD 4670 is the best budget card I could find that would be most compatible with my motherboard.

My question is, will my current motherboard suffice for the years to come or should I upgrade? I really don't have the money now to buy a better motherboard.

    Thanks.

If it can support 4670, it can support every card.
And yes, as per graphic card bsis, it wont suffice,
but it'll be a huge bottleneck in the performance of ur PC

sid0972 : Thanks.Yes, I was afraid of the bottlenecking too.

Great news, my budget got a huge boost! I have a budget of about Rs.20-22,000.

Since my mobo is extremely old, can you please recommend an awesome new motherboard and processor that would fit my budget? Since this is my first time moving from single core to duo/quad core, which would be best suited and has a long life for the future?

I was thinking of a Core i7 860 2.8GHz @ Rs. 14.8K or Core i5 i750 2.66GHz @ Rs. 10k or the Core i3 i530 2.93GHz @ Rs. 6.1k as the processors. Please note that I'm looking for a long lasting time with these parts - I do not want to do another upgrade for another 5 years other than this one.

Can you also recommend an awesome motherboard that I can buy with the remaining? (Again note : I'm looking for something that will last a long time, I really don't want to do another upgrade for another 5 or more years)

And if there is even more money left, I would also like to buy a good PSU that can support all this. I fear my current PSU is a local 450W one...

Also, I do not want to overclock any of these parts. Frankly, I'm scared of doing and have read that it reduces the quality of the parts over time.

I'm in Kerala, Trivandrum and I do not know of any reliable retailers who sell at a standard price. They love overpricing here.

    Sorry for the long post.
    Again, thanks.

Its a great thing u have such a big budget
Now since u dont want another upgrade for another 5 yrs, i suggest u go for core i7 750,not much different from 860, or maybe u can try one of AMD phenom series

As for motherboard, u can opt for Gigabyte GA-MA790GP-UD4H Motherboard
    best within ur budget
as for the power supply, it'll cost u at least 2500 bucks for a branded one
but i have explained how to use 2 power supplies in some post...u can check it

A quality branded PSU is no compromise even if it exceeds my budget by around 3000. Don't want my rig to fry up

I checked the Gigabyte GA-MA790GP-UD4H Motherboard online. But I found a couple of users who had conflicting issues on that board. Can you recommend me some other alternatives?

And could you please specify as to how an i750 is not different from an 860? And what of the Phenom? I've seen many users using the Phenom series. Despite being cheaper, how does it stack upto the Core Family series of processors?

    Thanks once again.
