    AM3 motherboard for linux

I want to build a Linux Machine, however, whenever I look at the specifications of motherboards, they always say that they support windows but never mention about Linux. Anyone know of any AMD based AM3 motherboards which are known to be compatible with linux? Kindly provide me the correct information on the AM3 motherboard that can be compatible for linux. Any information on AM3 motherboard would be greatly appreciated.

Most all motherboards support linux, from what I have seen and tried. The GA-MA790FXT-UD5P introduces revolutionary GIGABYTE Ultra Durable 3 technology on latest AMD socket AM3 platform with featuring 2 oz copper PCB and further helps to reduce the system temperature and dramatically enhance the performance. There's also some room for expandability in the RAM and processor departments, which should be a consideration for those who need a little bit of head room to make future upgrades to their PCs.

First of all you made the right choice *AMD* all the way. I'm assuming you want the best built in vga, something that can support a demanding am3, lots of fast ddr3 memory, and lots of pci-e 2.0 expansion slots, but do you want a crossfire or sli board. Right now DDR3 based systems show virtually no performance increases and overclocking performance is limited when compared with the same chip on a AM2+ board utilizing DDR2.

Depends on the motherboard. It should be fixable via the bios in the near future. In some cases DDR3 is actually slower then their DDR2 kin. There could be some that don't work well with Linux, but those will probably not be very common among systems that use a BIOS. Now weather that means the BIOS workaround will mean less aggressive timings, voltage, etc has yet to be seen.
