This may not be the right forum for this question, but I cannot see one that really does fit my problem.
I am running an older machine which I am getting ready to replace, but in the meantime, it is what I have. A AMD Athlon XP 2200. I am running Win2K Pro with all the latest patches and upgrades.
I have my operating system and some of my software used for work, (Mitchell Ultramate Collision Estimating), on my C: drive. It is a Western Digital Caviar (about 10GB).
My problem is this: I began to run out of drive space awhile ago, so I transfered my directory used for storing my completed work assignments onto my E: drive. This boosted my available space to about 2.5GB. This was about March of 09. Since that time, I have been highly aware of my remaining space on the drive, and I noticed something I cannot explain. It seems that every day when I would start my machine, I would check my drives and found that there was about a GB less space on my C: drive than when I shut it off the day before. Sometimes it would be only about 500MB less. At first I thought I was just imagining it, but then I changed the target for all my work to write directly to my E: drive, and avoided saving anything to my C: drive. But the space would still be less and less with each passing day.
Has anyone experienced anything like this before? Any known virus that works this way? I have McAfee and am current on that too. Scans do not turn up anything. I also have CCleaner and use it regularly.
I am now down to about 400MB of space left and cannot find where it is being used or what its being used FOR!
Is there a simple Drive space program which can give a graphical display of drive usage or something similar?
