    If AMD's AM 3 socket support DDR2

    hi,
AM3 CPUs in AM2 + motherboards will be up and running, they can also with DDR2 or DDR3 memory bypass. Either the IMC can store both types of control or there are 2 IMCs installed.

The AM2 + CPUs is that they are only in AM2 (+) running boards, ergo only DDR2 tolerated.
so AMD's AM 3 socket support DDR2 it technically possible.

Why should AMD AM3-Deneb once for DDR2 and DDR3 for manufacture, though AM2 + migrated to 45 nm (DDR2)?
AM3 processors are backward compatible with DDR2 memory!

AM3 CPUs support DDR2 and fit into AM2/AM2 + boards (with his run the BIOS update as well) AM3 boards have only DDR3 memory and AM2 CPUs / DDR2 RAM modules are not as fit.
Theoretically, one could also AM3 boards (with Socket 938) and DDR2 RAM slots build.

There was also one the DDR1 and DDR2 slots had, however, was just always one of the only two types of memory available, it may again.

Re: If AMD's AM 3 socket support DDR2

There is the definite statement that the memory controller of the Phenom II both DDR2 and DDR3 support. AMD is the Phenom II yes for the first Socket AM2 + imagine - and only supports DDR2 memory. Also, these II AM2 + Phenom processors in AM2 + motherboards current run, which I Phenom processors were built. There is definitely only for DDR2.

What ultimately theoretically and practically means: The Phenom II can control both. It can also AM3 boards with DDR2 memory slots built. It might even AM3 boards with DDR2 and DDR3 memory slots built. You can store these places just do not operate simultaneously.
