Monitor flickers while restarting

Hi folks,

i have purchased my computer system in the year 2001 with limited capacity of RAM i.e. is of 256MB size of SD RAM with the Tomato motherboard, then later some years i brought another 256MB RAM, when i plugged in the new RAM and start up the system, Monitors starts flickering, and it flickers for next 30 seconds then it works fine, this problem occurs whenever i shutdown and restarts the PC, what may be the problem.

any help will be highly appreciated.

Don't know if it's the same deal when I went up to a 21" monitor but putting a better cable on it- one with heavy coax instead of the lightweight OEM cable helped. So did the addition of what I think is called a line filter- one of those tunnel looking things that you strap on around the cable. Any decent electronics shop should be able to help you with those.

So you mean that the problem started after you installed another 256 MB of RAM...hmmm. Well, if your system had not started then we could have assumed that more RAM is not supported. But since after some flickr, the computer starts and functions properly, doubt on RAM functionality is also doubtful.

Still you can do some RND by removing the previous RAM stick and keeping only the new one and see if the same thing occurs. That can help determine the quality of that new RAM stick.

Are you suggesting me to change the cable which goes from RAM to MotherBoard? i will try this out but is it possible that whether MotherBoard is not supporting for Two RAm at a time.
