Best card for a 27 inch monitor

I will be purchasing my new 27 inch monitor (1920x1080 Pixel and 120Hz/3D) in near future. And I wanted to know about graphic cards which will be the best for this monitor. I am planning to run DirectX 11on it. I know though it is not that necessary to get a high end graphic card for this resolution of new monitor, I wish to avoid any lags. So does anyone have any good solution for my query. Please help me with your valuable suggestions. They will be appreciated.

I am using a 27 inch Samsung monitor which has 1920x1200 Resolution. I am using ATI hd6970 graphic card and it is working perfectly smooth with my monitor. It is capable of handling any high resource consuming game like the Crysis 2, Shift 2 at maximum resolution and maximum video quality. So I would recommend you to use the ATI HD 6970 graphic card for your 27 inch monitor screen. For me it has worked really awesome, so hopind for the same for your 27 inch monitor screen.

As you said that you will be getting 120hz monitor and you wish to try 3D, then the best recommendation from me would be the Nvidia’s Geforce 580gtx and the nvidia 3d kit. The ATI graphic cards also supports 3D but as far as I know it is limited to only DirectX 9.AMD Radeon HD 6590 is also a good graphic card for 1080 Pixel monitor. You can also try Nvidia’s Geforce GTX 460 as it will also give you great performance in most games at 1080 Pixel resolutions and a decentperformance even at 2560x1440.

The Nvidia’s Geforce GTX 590 and AMD’s Radeon HD6990 are the best in terms of performance.
    • ATI HD6870 is best in terms of value.
    • ATI HD 6950 is best in terms of performance per watt
    • Nvidia’s GTX 560Ti is best in terms of power consumption for Blu-Ray playback.
    • Nvidia’s 560ti 2Gb and above graphic cards gives you great performance especially when you are into 3D.

Re: Best card for a 27 inch monitor

I am having AMD's Radeon HD 6970 in my system and as per my experience the 6970 will perform very well on 1920x1200. If you have got some restriction because of your budget then you can consider either the AMD Radeon HD6950 or get a Nvidia’s Geforce GTX570. Though, the HD6970 is much more superior to both HD6950 and GTX570.
So my personal favourite will be:
    1. HD6970 – It has got an amazing value and performance.
    2. HD6950 is a superb card, slightly lower than the GD6970.
    3. Nvidia’s GTX570
    4. Nvidia’s GTX580

Wow!! The replies were exactly what I was looking for. They were quick as well as useful. Thank you, guys. You people are seriously a life saver. So now I have decided to choose anyone of the Nvidia Geforce GTX 590 or the AMD Radeon HD6990 graphic card. They seem to be the best viewer’s choice by far. Will get more detailed information about them on Internet or their respective official website, compare them and see which will be more efficient for me to use with my 27 inch monitor.
