Power Consumption in NVIDIA GeForce GTX 580

Succeeding the GeForce GTX 480, GeForce GTX 580 has a dual mission: to offer superior performance to its predecessor, while offering thermal, acoustic and electric reviewed downwards. Within the GeForce GTX 580 ... we find the Fermi architecture from NVIDIA, an architecture that reiterate, is the first to support DirectX 11 for the firm of Santa Clara. Because every time we test graphics cards, we tested the power consumption of all cards accepted. We proceed in two steps: at rest, on the Windows desktop, then load with 3DMark Vantage running at 2560x1600. The measurement is made at the outlet, using a power meter. It is therefore the overall power consumption of our test machine. You will get better idea after taking glance on the below graph :

(Good work done "Benito" )While consumption at rest resembles a nearly straight line on a graphics card to another, excluding multi-GPU consumer support can give chilling. Our SLI Gorge still almost 700 Watts! Besides there is less consumption for the GeForce GTX 580 SLI supports SLI against the GeForce GTX 480. Support the GeForce GTX 580 consumes about ten watts face additional GeForce GTX 480: then certainly we would have liked to see that number decline ... but against the performance gain obtained in all tests, this overconsumption is not illogical.
