There are multiple possibilities for this problem problem including the wrong drivers, older BIOS, CPU problem, soldering problem, etc. you must check that the screen is just dim or completely black. If its just dim then it may be a backlight issue. See if this tricks work or not. Turn on your computer plugged in with battery. If it comes up black screen then pull the battery out (computer still on and running off plug). Then hold the power button until the system shuts down. Wait about 5-10 seconds then turn the computer back on without the battery installed. If it works then great, if not visit to service center.

Check your laptop display first, If your laptop does’nt show anything on screen then you can do a few things to figure out the problem:
    1. Observe your laptop's HDD light activity when you turn on..if is there any activity then try to connect an external monitor cable to laptop and see is there any screen.
    2. if yes then your laptop may have bad lcd flex cable, or bad lcd ..
    3. if there is no HDD LIGHT activity then you can do only one thing.. remove RAM cover screw pull out ram and replace again ... if you have 2 ram modules then plug in only one and try ..or it can bad graphic chipset , bad co-processor . if this does’nt solve your problem then you can visit to a techie or service center.

If you don’t see anything on screen then you can do a following things to fix the problem:
-check the graphics card from any dust/dirt.
-test both memories separately on both memory gates.
    -monitor CPU temp.
-run primary- and secondary hard drive diagnos from BIOS (this made the computer crash every time, but it didn't make the screen go black, the computer just simly shut it self down all the sudden and it would boot up normally)
-re-installed video drivers. if this does'nt work for you than go to a technician.

There may be a multiple problem in your computer, may be your screen is just not displaying on the right monitor, it sounds like you know how to switch the monitor output, but in case it is as simple as this try pressing fn or function and then the F (function) key that corresponds to the lcd switching could be f7 f12 or somthing like that. But, you prob. allready know how to do that or try to you press the FN and F4 keys and it doesn’t transfer the image from the monitor to the laptop screen then your laptop’s LCD screen is gone and will need to be replaced. Or try to defragment your hard disk. Go on My Computer (right button click on the icon)/Manage/Event Viewer and to check the log about the black screen. Go on My Computer (right button click on the icon)/Manage/Event Viewer and to check the log about the black screen. For any difficulties regarding you can go to service center.
