I have recently bought a new Sony Bravia ex710 on which I can also use the Netflix. Now at my bungalow where I am gonna mount this TV on the second floor. Problem is that I am having my router on the first floor which have made me thinking that how would I be joining this router with my new TV? Can you guys suggest me the cord which I must be using to connect them?

Best way to go through the manual where Sony must have mentioned the proper cable which you have to use to connect the TV with the router. But as the distance between the router and your TV is bit longer, You have to use the extension of the same cable which has been recommended by the Sony in the manual. But still I would like to tell you that try connecting the router directly by placing it on aside of tv first by using the normal length cord just to check that the router which you has works with the TV or not. Then you may get an extension for the same.

I think you have to use an ethernet cable to connect your Sony Bravia TV with the router. Make sure that you buy this cable long enough that you can easily connect it with the router placed on the lower floor as compare to the TV. One more thing that you have to consider here is power supply. Make sure that your TV has an individual power supply so that any power fluctuating does not affect your TV as soon as your internet gets disconnected on your TV.

Hook up the computer system and TV with a *CROSSOVER* ethernet cable after that you have to enable "Internet Connection Sharing" on the computer system as "Wireless Network Connection" if your router supports for wireless connection. In order to enable an "Internet Connection Sharing", Go to the Network Connections folder from the Start --> Run where you have to type NCPA.CPL and the press Enter. Right click on the Wireless Network Connection, choose Properties and switch to the Advanced tab in Windows XP & Sharing tab in Windows Vista. Make a check in front of "Allow other network users to connect through this computer's internet connection.”

ICS should be using the 192.168.0.0 Subnet which means that the network adapter in the Host PC which connects with the Client should be having the address 192.168.0.1 and the Client will obtain an address by DHCP between 192.168.0.2 and 192.168.0.254. This says that the 3rd octet of an IP address of your router in order to make it operating in a different Subnet. If all the devices connected to the router can acquire their addresses automatically then this won’t be any problem and there would be only need to change the 'fixed' IP address.
