Gigabyte HD 5770 Driver Stops Working

I have a Gigabyte 5770 in my system and now I am having some problems with it. On the desktop I get a black screen for a few seconds when I do light work. Then after some time the image recovers with a message saying something like display driver has stopped working and now it has recovered. The system freezes only in 2D mode and there is no problem with the 3D mode. There is no problem while I am playing games for hours. Is there anyone who can help me in this scenario. Thanks. I can not understand actually what was the problem. I just upgraded the bios.

Please give the detailed description, of the system. You have posted that you have upgraded the Bios. You have installed new video card, did you first remove the old drivers in the safe mode? Please use a Registry Clean Up and that also in the Safe Mode. Just remove all the drivers and after that remove all the drivers and then reinstall the latest ones for it. Hope this will help.

Re: Gigabyte HD 5770 Driver Stops Working

Thanks for the quick response. Here is the quick detail regarding the configuration of the system:
    • E7500 CPU
    • Radeon 5770 Gigabyte GPU
    • Hard Disk Seagate 500GB
    • 2*2GB RAM
    • Windows 7 as Operating System

Now I think that I have given you much specification of the system. I also want to tell that I have not done any overclocking stuff with it.

You can try cleaning the CMOS(Complementary metal-oxide-semiconductor) then reset the BIOS to default. After all these just reboot the system. It is just an advice. See if that works. Please also follow what David23 suggested, it sounds me some what really interesting and valuable. Try it and let us know in the next post. Thanks

Re: Gigabyte HD 5770 Driver Stops Working

By looking at this thread I can conclude that this is simply because of the problems in the Driver. I guess that you are using the older drivers. Please see that you are using latest drivers released for your BIOS. Also see the drivers for the Graphic Cards(in your case Gigabyte Radeon HD5770). Thanks

Re: Gigabyte HD 5770 Driver Stops Working

As you said I uninstalled CCC & driver, then switched to safe mode. Then for removing any files left I used driver sweeper. I do not think that this might be the problem. Also, I cleaned the CMOS and even formatted the Hard Disk. I even installed the fresh copy Windows 7. But still I get the black screen for two to five seconds. The error message was again the same. The problem is where it was before, I do not think that anything different has happened. Any other suggestions? I am completely out of ideas. I am keeping my fingers crossed and hope that this is just because of the drivers and nothing to do with hardware.
