question NVIDIA Geforce 7600 GS AGP graphics corrupted

I have recently installed a new NVIDIA Geforce 7600 GS AGP card. It installs perfectly and seems to be working fine. Movies, pictures etc. all work perfectly. Whenever I run a game made after 1998 (eg. Half life will work, Halo won't), the graphics have jagged, cracked holes in them. Like shattered glass, almost. Also, the image displayed in the NVIDIA configurer (The 3D rotating one) also has this effect, regardless of the applied settings. I have tried to optimise the settings, I have tried to set the Hardware acceleration lower, and I have edited a few BIOS settings, but nothing will fix the problem. I have a WIndows XP computer, in case that helps.
    Any advice, anyone?

This look like a driver issue in your system. There are two reason which I think is causing the issue. First can be old drivers and other can be outdated Direct X support on your system. First just update your drivers and then see. Disable your screen saver in the background while playing the game. This might fix the issue.

unsure Re: NVIDIA Geforce 7600 GS AGP graphics corrupted

I have already uninstalled the older drivers and installed the latest ones, and I am running DX 9.0c, the best this video card can do. I tried disabling the screensaver like you suggested, but no effect. There are still a large number of "cracks" in the textures. I have also tried to set the hardware acceleration lower. This will make the NVIDIA symbol (again, 3D rotating one) to appear as it should, with no graphic tearing or cracks in the textures, but when I start up any game, the problem is still there.

Actually that graphics card is not much powerful. What is your full computer specifications? If you play old games, just skip any driver from the 1xx.xx series. The 9x.xx drivers will run any older games and 2xx.xx will run most of them (some have minor issues, but are playable). The 2xx.xx may have better performance as well. I hope this was useful. The 7600 works better with a quality 450W PSU. If your CPU is below these games minimum requirements, then this could be a limiting factor.

    cool

Thanks for the advice. I have a pretty good CPU and i'm pretty sure my PSU is sufficient for this card. Good idea with the drivers, though. I'm downloading the newest ones right now.

Nope, the games still all have tearing and holes. I'll try downloading the newest version of DirectX, see if that helps.....

The possibility could well being related to the desired thing that is needed in order to function well for the thing. All you need to do is to check out well for the desired thing that is needed. It will be better for you. Get the latest Direct X drivers installed and look out for the conclusion. It will surely help you out as needed.

Hmmm....... Nope. Everything has been updated now, and still, no improvement whatsoever. Perhaps I should post some images of the problem, that might help.

First of you didnt say what psu are you using? If you have a PSU that is lower than 400 Watt you might see a bit of power lag from your GPU. The site says it needs only a 300 watt minimum. Keep in mind that what you see on the web site you posted are min requirements you might need to have a bit more than that.

Well, actually, I just tried something that I never would have thought of if the issue of Drivers never came up. I uninstalled the latest ones, and installed 93.71, and everything seems to ACTUALLY be working. So far.

Such corruption in my experience mean either the memory chips or nvidia processor chip is overheating. if your card is a passively cooled one(i.e. it does not have a fan) then you might be well advised to check the air flow in your cabinet. if you are game, you could try underclocking both the memory and nvidia chip a little bit. if you are even braver than that, you can buy yourself a can of thermal paste and reapply it on the heat sink of your card. its a relatively painless affair which only needs a few minutes.

search the web on how to do the thermal paste replacement properly.

    cheers. hope that helps

again ... i am also interested in buying an agp card. your one to be specific. i.e. a 7600GS but i can;t get it in my city ... i.e. Shillong. sorry to bug you but could you pppppllllllleeeeeeaaaaaasssseeee tell me where you got yours from and what was the price. if you are willing maybe you could help me get one for myself.

please let me know as soon as possible. my email is [email protected]

    thanks once again
