You can see a PCI slot on the motherboard which was white in color before, nowadays it comes in blue color. You just need properly fit the gpu on that and place it tight. Then there is lock on the slot which must fit the motherboard properly. Do not put that improperly or else you will face issue. If you are not able to do that then search for manual for the same.

Graphics cards now use PCI-Express or PCI-Express 2.0 and fully compatible which has gradually replaced the AGP. But the same is still found on some motherboards and it permits a greater bandwidth. So you get a higher performance. Just place the card properly on the slot and then press it hard. Connect the fan power cable and turn on your pc. From your BIOS choose PCI/VGA and then reboot.

The problem is that if you motherboard has a older model of solot then you can face incompatibility issue. If you have AGP support then you must have an AGP graphics card on a motherboard. So just be sure that. For new card choose for a PCIe card and in terms of performance PCI-Express is much better. You can choose up any card ad per your system requirement. You can buy up a 512 MB support for that.

Usually for using any operating system latest you must have a graphic support. Like for Windows 7 you must have at least 512 MB for graphic card. At the beginning of the emergence of 3D graphics accelerator, the amount of on board memory plays an important role, and performance went hand in hand with the amount of ram. That has changed today so you must get a new graphic support for the same.

Better I will suggest you to buy a new one. You must look for a average card which you are trying to install. Just place the card and tilt it below. You can go on Google and search for some videos which can guide for the process. This is a much better way to work. You can see power cable for the fan which you have fit on the board. If there is black screen on your system then the card is not compatible.

Re: Need help in installing ATI 4850 gfx on 780g motherboard

Today, only the 3D applications including games require a powerful graphics card. All other applications like office, internet surfing, video editing, photo etc require no additional power 3D video processor. So it depends on you to buy a new one or not. There is an integrated graphics card to the motherboard that will be sufficient. For players the choice is very complex.
