Catalyst 10.1 driver update problem for Radeon HD4600

I have a Radeon HD4600 graphic card in my system. I saw in a news that the new version of Ati Catalyst driver is out. My version for the same is Catalyst 9.12. Now I had removed this one and installed Catalyst 10.1. But when I checkout it showed that the version is still Catalyst 9.12. I had installed this several time. What can be the bug here. Second this as compare to Catalyst 9.12 what does Catalyst 10.1 offers.

I have a similar problem in my system. I have a Radeon HD4600 512 MB Graphic Card on my system. Now I had installed the Catalyst 10.1 drivers to upgrade the older one. But this does not work. It still showed that the version of the driver is Catalyst 9.12. I had downloaded the same driver from the official site of ATI. So what can be the reason behind this version number problem.

The same problem occurred in my system also. First when I found that there is a update available for the catalyst drivers I had first removed the older version. Then I had scanned the system via Driver Sweeper and cleaned up all left driver files. After that I had downloaded and installed Catalyst 10.1 driver which later on showed 9.12 as the version number. This is really messy. But everything is working fine so left things as it is.

You does not need to worry about the same. The version of Catalyst 10.1 is same as Catalyst 9.12. There is nothing new added in that except some updates. So it does not matter if you are using Catalyst 9.12 or Catalyst 10.1. Both are one and the same. The same things goes for the AGP hotfix version. They showed different driver versions but they are one and the same.

The Catalyst 10.1 is the latest version of Catalyst control center and it covers all ATI cards, including HD 5600, 5700, 5800 and 5900 series. I had upgraded and I really does not worry about what version number it is showing. The game which I played showed some positive results. Crysis gained some 3 to 4% respectively for the HD 700 and 5800 ATI graphic cards.

I am using the older version only. I do not want to upgrade to the new one if it states the same old version. So that is quiet useless in touching your default settings. I had gone on ATI site and found that the drivers enhance the performance of 3% in 2 Left 4 Dead and Crysis with Radeon 57xx or 58xx and fix many bugs including one in particular that touched flash player 10.

In the 10.1 version of ATI catalyst the bug fixes are concerned with the playback Flash from the browser on Windows Vista and Windows 7, the Blu-ray on Windows 7 and the game Call of Juarez, Resident Evil 5 and 7 also Windows . There are some updates for the gaming support too. But it is on your choice weather to upgrade or not. It is not actually needed.
