lcd screen blanks when insert power cable (dell inspiron 8600)

I just recently replaced my LCD screen on my Dell Inspiron 8600 laptop and it works fine on the battery alone but whenever I plug in the power cable to charge on mains, the screen instantly goes blank (and it makes no difference if the battery has been removed or not). I had a Samsung WXSGA+ originally and now I've replaced it with a different LCD screen (no brand).

I've found that if I go into suspend mode and remove the power cable and then resume, the display will be fine on battery but never will it display once the power cable is inserted.

I'm running Windows XP and I've removed the Monitor's from the Device Manager and restarted (in an attempt to update the drivers) but to no avail. It seems to be either a driver problem or I broke something to do with distributing power on the reinstall.

    Can anyone help with ideas?

If your LCD TV and computer are properly connected but the LCD TV screen remains dark, run the LCD TV self-test by performing the following steps:

1.Turn off both your computer and the LCD TV.
2.Unplug the video cable from the back of the computer. To ensure proper Self-Test operation, remove both Digital(white connector) and the Analog(blue connector) cables from the back of computer.
    3.Turn on the LCD TV.

    More information here.

Sorry for the confusion James_911 - it's not an LCD TV it's my laptop LCD screen - and the issue is more to do with why the screen goes blank when I insert the power cable? (as the screen works fine on batteries)

The main cause of laptop's LCD getting blank is the inverter or may be the Mainboard as well.. First culprit is inverter. Had you ever changed inverter ?

Anyways, to get the exact culprit try using external monitor. If it works fine that means mainboard is OK and you need to change the inverter.
