    Tech question about the ZR24w

    Hi,
I need some technical specification on HP ZR24w monitor. I had got some information on the aspect ration of the monitor by a customer service rep. That is on ration of 4:3 the highest resolution that will work is 1600 x 1200. On 16:9 ration the highest resolution is 1280 x 720 and on 16:10 it is 1280x800. Now this can be due to hardware limit. I am here trying to get 1920x1080 over DVI.

The 1920x1080 resolution on 60 hz is the actual preset value of VESA graphic mode for your monitor model. The native resolution for this monitor is actually 1920x1200. In your case where you try to get 1920x1080 on your screen the the monitor tries not to scale by which it can put the 60 rows pixel at the top and bottom of the screen to make the scene more proportionable. For this you need to have all necessary controls which will needed to limit scaling operation.

As per the user guide of the monitor, you can go in the screen menu. For this you will have to enter Control > Custom Scaling. And then here you have to turn over-scan off. By this it becomes possible to stop the aspect ration which goes out of the screen edges. So that you does need to scroll. And also this makes the proper boarders to get on the edges keeping everything on the visual info.

I will recommend you not to use the resolution which is much higher than the native one. It must be lesser than what is limited. Here there is no sense of using a application which can stretch your screen or just compress the higher screen resolution to your provided settings. This spoils the screen output and affects your visual output also. Better use the recommended settings.

I have a NEC EA231WMi monitor where I am not getting any problem in using 1080p monitor out where the native resolution is limited to 1920x1080. I had seen the monitor output which is much nicer. It displays the output is properly. In the previous 24" HP monitor the issue what not the same where the output was limited and the resolution does not fill the aspect ratio properly.

It is a HD monitor by HP with swivel support. The ZR22w ZR24w and are therefore professional monitors swivel, displaying full HD resolution of 1920 x 1080 pixels. The screens can pivot on different axes 8 and have a 4 port USB hub. Both adopt an S-IPS panel for up to 96% of the RGB color space, which also show a picture with 10 times more contrast to an angle of 60 degrees that screens classic, all with a contrast ratio of assessed 3000:1.
