nvidia 8600GT problems

Hi there
I have been having a lot of problems with my nvidia 8600GT graphics card.
It was working fine until the hard drive crashed and Dell came and replaced it.
Then it started saying that the resolution was'nt supported. Contacted Dell who said to shut down and reboot, alas the BIOs screen displayed and then nothing! No Digital signal detected was the error
Reconnect thru analogue and we have a picture!
Dell advises to disable graphics card and they come to replace it. AGAIN the same problem.
Drivers are all updated and now computer is running an Intel graphics card?
When we try to load the nvidia card error is recieved saying that it (the 8600GT) is not installed!
I am at my wits end, and Dells answer seems to be, dump the system and we will try again, we have tried this to no avail.
I am not very good at this but I have read of a lot of problems with the nvidia card.
Any help would be appreciated!

That is really annoying i have a fully working nvidia 8600GT i used nvinject 0.2.1 and Zeph's Universal Nvidia Drivers.I tried the universal installer and then the nvinject 512 and it gave me a black screen on reboot

Can you be more specific about the error. What you can do is go to to on-board video ? Remove all Nvidia drivers from your pc using nvidia removal tool and then put your nvidia 8600GT graphics card and install the old nvidia drivers and see if it works or not.

Hi thanks for the help
I have removed the nvidia drivers from my pc and when I tried to install the original driver and then an error came up stating "The nvidia setup could not locate any drivers that are compatible with your current hardware, setup will now exit"???
