    Unstable Display of Hannspree Monitor

Recently my Samsung monitor got out of service, due to constant color correction. So i thought of buying a cheaper monitor available at Best Buy, a HANNspree 20" flatscreen as i am having some money issues. When i open the box of the monitor, it has a manual saying that the monitor resolution has to be set at 1600x900 resolution. So after having connected,i made it on and tried to set it on the asked resolution, but the problem occured is that screen shakes. Any other resolution i tried works fine. I have no idea as what is wrong with the default resolution given in manual.

Please provide some suggestion regarding this

    Your suggestion will appreciated

The problem is with your video card and not the monitor. If your video card does not support the native resolution of the monitor you will get poor results. I have a 22 inch monitor myself and when I run at the native resolution the screen is very sharp any other resolution is unacceptable.

be sure you've installed the drivers and then go into settings/display properties and use the display settings slider.

A pixel is the smallest element of a video image, but not the smallest element of a monitor's screen. Since each pixel must be made up of three separate colors, there are smaller red, green, and blue dots on the screen that make up the image. The term dot is used to refer to these small elements that make up the displayed image on the screen. In order to use different resolutions on a monitor, the monitor must be able to support automatic changing of resolution modes. Originally, monitors were fixed at a particular resolution, but most monitors today are capable of changing their displayed resolution under software control. This allows for higher or lower resolution depending on the needs of the application. A higher resolution display shows more on the screen at one time, and the maximum resolution that a monitor can display is limited by the size of the monitor and the characteristics of the CRT (cathode-ray tube). In addition, the monitor must have sufficient input bandwidth to allow for refresh of the screen, which becomes more difficult at higher resolutions because there is so much more information being sent to the monitor.

when you buy a monitor, they tell you what the best or optimal resolution is; in other words, what resolution looks the best on that particular monitor. Your font is very rough looking because the resolution you have now is not the monitors optimal resolution. To resolve this, you need a video card that can output that resolution you listed.

The problem seems to lie with your graphics card which, in this case, only has a maximum resolution of 1,280 x 720. Unless your machine is exceptionally old (>3 years), it is likely that all you need to do is download the latest graphics drivers from the manufacturer Web site and install it.

Alternatively, if Viewsonic has included a driver CD with the monitor, you may want to install that instead to enable the 1440 x 900 resolution. In any case, please ensure that all installation instructions are read carefully before proceeding. CNET Asia will not be held responsible for any damages incurred due to any software installation.

If the above suggestions still don't solve your pronblem, I'd advise you to upgrade the graphics card in your desktop. However, if you are using a notebook, then you are out of luck as it cannot be upgraded in this manner.
