ehshell.exe - Strong name validation failed for assembly

I have a Dell 6400 laptop. It came with Windows Media Center 2005. The installation was fine and there was no issue with it. Later on I do not know what happen the system got crashing. I never used windows media center, but I saw a video which shows some valid settings for it and how to share the media files. The error is related to some eshell.exe. Does anyone is aware about the error. I do not think that this eshell.exe has any relation with windows media center.

I got that error after when I finished Windows XP SP2 installation. The Media Center fails to work. We are still looking to find a proper resolution for the same. I am on a paid media center support but still there is no help from microsoft end. Later on I performed windows update and the problem still exist. I am having no option other than formatting the system completely and re-installing it from scratch. It is one of the best way to get rid of the issue. New files replaces the older edition and it works really well. In my system I cannot perform system restore as I had formatted it, but in your case you can do that. You must try to run system restore and then check the same back again.

The solution for this is to re-install microsoft .net. I had got this solution on microsoft forums. I has tried that and it really works. You can find the .net in add/remove program. From there you can simply uninstall it and then re-install the same back again. It is one of the best way to fix the issue. Do not just install updates over updates because it can make your system more buggy. You must first try to get rid of old updates and then only install fresh updates. This resolves many things.
