These are the old rates, I have seen them since the time they launced ADSL in delhi and in fact these rates are not et all competent, and given the reputation that MTNL has these kinda tarriffs wont do them any gud either

    These r the new rates.
    found this on the site

Presently, MTNL broadband services will be available
from 15th Jan.,05 in the following 4 areas.

So they r no old ones. But these rates suck!!!
No unlimited d'load at 256kbps or even a limit like 4gb wud have been reasonable.

    hi all,

well at this given time looking at the info i have one word for MTNL BROADBAND, its pure NARROWBAND. i think i am much comfortable on IGATE with the current plan of 160k what they provide with unlimited uploads and downloads.

well i think mtnl tariff is way better considering currently what i get!!
My current connection from my local cablewalla:-
    bandwidth:-24kbps
actual download speed: 2.3kbps max sometimes even goes down to 0.8kbps
    Access time: 9pm to 9am
    charges:650+10.2% service tax=Rs716 per month
download cap: unlimited(virtually of no use considering my download speeds)
    And he says its broadband!!!

"though a good option for surfers only (non downloaders )"
No this is not at all friendly for only surfers also.
    At 256 kbps connection if you surf contiously for a period of 2 to 3 hours/day, you will consume 50 MB/day i.e. 1.5 GB/month.
So the cost goes to Rs. (500 +2X500)= Rs. 1500/month.
But it's allright. We cann't expect more from them. I enquired to BSNL staffs at Calcutta Trade Fair about Dataone and they repeatedly assured me about unlimited data transfer but I knew it will not be possible from them. Where do they get such bandwidth. Anything less that 10 GB with a 256 kbps connection is worthless.

And see at the end of their terris page. It was written that upto 30th. june you will not be charged for the excess MB data. What a plan, i.e. for six months you can enjoy unlimited connection, be habituated with unlimited data transfer and after 6 months, pay a few thousand bucks as terrif.

well the bsnl plans are better than mtnl's.I dont get it even in mumbai, being the prime city,we get worst plans.
Is mtnl going to follow the same suit as bsnl of providing no additional usage charges for first 6 months?
And the bandwidth is it shared or dedicated?

If it's 20-30 Kb then it's it's amazing. Where are you geting it at Rs. 810?
If it's 20 kbps i.e. 2.5 Kb/s then it's allright for simple surfing and downloading by download manager.

Well I think the best plan is 1200 business 256,4gb which is available for yearly 12k.Its good enuf unless u r too used to downloading 10 dvds a month
Atleast much better than my 5.5-7KB/sec for a 1000 bucks pm.

I was looking forward to much better rates from MTNL - such a disappointment

My Hathway night usage with a Cable Modem 3gb 128kbps for 750 per month still looks better than the MTNL offerings. I have used this for a year and not had a single day without a conx. I get a constant download of 16KB/s.

Very expensive. They seem to be promoting the 'always on' policy. But those MB's finish very fast then you are charged per mb.

I had a mtnl dsl, got it removed in a month as those mbs kept on rising and so did the cost. It is good if you use it very less.

Also dont forget the monthly modem charges associated with it.
And the customer support is terrible as in any govt department.

I switched to Hotwire. I think it is the cheapest.

lol .. home user tarrifs apart, business broadband tarrifs are a joke.

and i thought mtnl and bsnl will have the same plan as they are in for a merger. wonder y their tarrifs r so different.

the 10gb data transfer limit in the reliance package (128kbps 800permonth 10gb-limit) suddenly seems so huge lol.

1 DUMB question maybe, but maybe clarification is USEFUL

In the BSNL dataone plan or supoose any other broadband plans, does the limit of data download & upload( per month) also includes in it >>the size of data transfer while browsing the internet << OR >>is the limit specifically refers to the cap on size of only on the Downloaded & Uploaded data<<
    THANK YOU FOR REPLYING
