Huawei UMG 1831 21mbps modem giving less than 1 mbps

Hello everybody I have bought a new Huawei UMG 1831 modem. It is mentioned that it supports twenty one Mbps. I bought this modem because BSNL 3G data card now supports up to 7Mbps.But when the modem is connected, I get the less than 1 mbps. Why is it so. Where is the problem? This modem come with no warrant card any open box just had a sticker of twenty one mbps. So please help to know the issue.

Hello friend I read your problem regarding the your newly bought Huwai modem. I don’t think it is issue of the modem because you told that it support 21mbps. It seems that there is congestion in the network or due to the traffic in the network. Or it can be due the firmware. So I will suggest you unplug it try after some time. There will no issue. And if there then you need to have latest firmware installed then try.

Hello friend It does not seem that you have not an updated version of Firmware. Updated Firmware is v11.831.05.01.420.B427. So install it. Or I can say there is variation in the speed in the weekdays , Its my personal experience that I get slower speed as compare to weekend. As, in weekday there is more user using the network. Your speed also depend on tower you are connected and capacity of that tower .U If you want to know connected speed you can use MDMA and you can also know the type of signal, signal strength and other details

First, thanks for your patience in giving suggestion.
I know that if the network does not support, you cannot blame the modem, but the thing is that my mobile phone 3G offers speeds up to 4Mbps.Anyway, I will use the networking tools you suggested. The error is I find huawei instead of T-Mobile!I'm less than 1 km of the tower, so I do not know why I'm not getting good signal.

I think you got the wrong modem. I will suggest you to replace this modem as you told you bought new one. You did not get this packed one. The shopkeeper has done something with it. And you are getting the name T- mobile instead of the Huwai it means there is some issue of modem also. Please replace soon.
