HP Deskjet D1660 not working properly

I just bought a hp printer D1660 and still I could not print to it, first of all I have debian 5.0.4, and of course had hp lip 2.8.6 and D1600 was not the driver, I went to one site and download the hplip-3.10.2.run, tube resolve some dependencies and install it now ready for 1.3.8 Common UNIX Printing System, and correctly I mounted the driver that corresponds to this model but not passing control print jobs and does not print even blinking light indicates an error.

I have it in Debian Testing and working properly. According to the message presented by asking you to print, you seem to lack any package. I remember I looked at the same place as you to find the driver in particular that needed to run, but then I downloaded from the repositories.

Believe me I also thought canbiarme to testing, but hey keep trying to be a way. I have some packages installed so I missed during the installation of hplip-3.10.2.run, when I run hp-check apparently tells me everything is fine "No errors or warnings." auque the install and nothing to print. A last chance to try to install it after it has been removed threw me a notification message that I needed the package called: foomatic-hplip-ric, which is not in the repositories with stable and do not own only if the testing, well auque not know if that is what is missing to make it work properly.

Take note of the driver according to the official HP site is appropriate for your printer. Put in Google "debian-packages", in it you can see if that package is available for Lenny, the igula that for Testing. If so, remove the package installed official, for example by Syanaptic. After installing the repositories, better aptitude to see if the units are arranged. After installing the printer again, with CUPS or the Gnome or KDE attendance, as you use. If I understand correctly, you must do this as root. If the driver is not in the Lenny repositories, try changing your sources.list temporarily to point testing. After installing the driver through aptitude testing. Then point your sources.list back to Lenny. I think that this second method should fix your problem.

Uninstall all related packages hplip, change the testing repositories, update and installed without problem hplip-3.10.2-3 with all its dependencies, install the printer with the D1600 series driver and nothing when printing command does nothing and gives me no error message on hp-check auque throws me the following errors: Checking for dependency: PyQt 4 DBus - DBus Support for PyQt4, error: not found! This is a required / runtime only dependency. Please make sure this dependency is installed that before Installing or running hplip.

If you created LP and lpadmin groups and your user already belongs to them, I think you should not do anything else at this point. If you have properly installed the package hplip-3.10.2-3, do not know why then ask you to install python-qt4, it should have installed all the dependencies of this package they are testing. It seems that you ask the python-qt4-dbus, but the version of testing, not Lenny. As if it's any help, I have in testing the same hplip-3.10.2-3, and the package python-qt4-4.6-1, but I have not installed python-qt4-dbus and the printer works perfectly.
