print to my local printer from my remote desktop

I have a printer (CANON PIXMA iP4840) connected to my home computer (Ubuntu) and it runs a remote session (Windows XP). How can I print to my local printer from my remote desktop? It doesn't work. Will be grateful for any tips, suggestions, smart advice or anything!

I've checked those threads and it looks like there's no solution for Ubuntu. I guess I'll just have to switch to windows. The guys there recommend commercial third party software, has anyone tried anything like that? I've googled some Fabulatech remote printer software, looks like that's exactly what I need

I think that you may want to try and enable some of the remote services in the services window. Just type services in the command prompt and hit enter then scroll down to enable them. Are you using a defined user name to connect to the remote or are you actually using a built in account like "administrator". Try logging into the remote computer using the Administrator account if your not and since that is a main account.
