My Dell latitude D630 I running on the windows 7 and after few days I an facing one problem with it. The problem Is that my touchpad is not working properly. I want to know that this model dell is using a synaptics or Alps touchpad? If anyone having any recommendations then I would like to know that thing. Thanks for the co-operation.

Hey dude, I am also having the same problem with my Dell Latitude D830 running on the windows 7. For solving this problem I had used the windows vista input device drivers and it was working fine now. To fix this issue I had downloaded one driver which is named R165804.exe before downloading this you will need to insert your model number. If you don’t provide your proper model number then it might happens that you will get the wrong driver for your dell laptop. For downloading this you will need to search on the internet and I am sure that you will get the proper driver and you will get out of this problem.

According to your suggestion, I see the driver for the downloading but I found only for the 32-bit. I would like to know that are you running 64 or 32 bit? Give me more detail about it that how I can download the driver for solving my issue.

Ok, I am running on the 32-bit system. If your are not able to find that you are running on 32-bit or 64-bit then you will need to check the control panel. For checking this, the steps are Go to Control Panel > System, then the "System Type" will tell you if you're on 32 or 64 bit. And I will recommend you that before downloading and installing the drivers for your Dell touchpad, you will need to check on the control panel for any mouse drivers, if there is any mouse driver then uninstall that and then install the new downloaded driver to it. And I am sure that it will work in your case, I am telling you this thing because I have solved this problem. Try with this solution and report the result back to me. I am sure that it will work in your case. If after downloading and installing the new drivers in your dell laptop, still this is not working then try to get the other driver for it and keep on trying with the different drivers.

For the while now, I have worked with this machine. On this machine, to uninstall the drivers is not os hard and also it is not so easy. On the net while downloading the drivers, when you enter the laptop model number they will list you the drivers which your machine support. I will suggest you to look at the ALPS TOUCHPAD under Pointing devices. Try to download this driver but before start downloading this driver makes sure that you are downloading the driver for your 64-bit operating system. If by some reason you are not able to download the driver then try after deleting all the cookies and then try again.

I will also suggest you the same for downloading and installing the proper mouse driver for the solving your problem on your Dell laptop. Once your computer get restart after installation at that time you wil bale to see the touchpad icon on the system tray. After this try to open it up and then do the setting as you required. While changing the setting I will suggest you to do the one setting at a time and see what is happening over there, with doing this thing you will be able to find out the best setting for you. Using the setting at this time you can also enable or disable the scrolling and also you can modify the scrolling area also.
