    Vertex 2 ssd or ATI 6970 2gb

I am waiting or the Am3+ motherboard and along with that I am thinking to upgrade my rig. There are two things coming in my mind that whether I should get the ATI 6970 2gb or the Vertex 2 ssd drive. I cannot afford both at the same time so I am thinking to get any one of them. Can you tell me that which one will be much prudent for me? I hope I will get some good suggestion from here. Thank you so much for your reply in advance.

If it would be the case for me then I would have gone with the option for graphics card. I know I would be similar to get a few superior frame rates for the 5770 when I'm recording through FRAPS. Anyways SSD is a kind of useless thing. Waste a second or two all over the place, possibly 10 seconds form the boot time. My suggestion to you is to get the 6970 and not the 6950. There are many of the horror stories regarding people bricking to flash.

A SSD is much faster than you think. That makes the job of a PC in a quick and easy terrain. Once you have one, it will make games faster and the boot, install and remove programs, open files, etc happen much faster. the advantages of speaking is when you have all the files and the software that SSD so now with the price of SSD value and satisfaction is higher when you buy a GPU like the 6970HD SSD is faster, yes, but Pc in general is fast and not wait so long. Anyway there is something wrong and some well so the choice depends on what you are doing is Pc.

I owned both of the items in my case. I would say the SSD is the single largest leap you can make. I went to using a mechanical as a boot drive for a day when moving my data. You should buy a new solid state and everything flys. My 6970 is fast as can be, and I too owned a 5770 before this. But unless your pushing 1200/1600 or, stick with it for now and try to wait for 7xxx. I hope this will help you to make decision.

I also edit on my pc and do video production. I will get the ssd but my funds a not steady the 6970 will be top for a year or so and the vertex 2 will drop in price soon i hope so I think I am going for the 6970. Then the ssd and then the am3+ crosshair V. I can't stay with it the 5770 Battlefield 3 will not run maxed on it. I don't want to crossfire yet. That will be a future upgrade. It will be the 6970 next then the ssd then the Crosshair V. Then I'll see what the bulldozer can do.

A quality SSD is one of the biggest improvements a system can have. Not to mention they will pretty much remove any frame rate stuttering in open-world games such as WoW, Oblivion, Fallout, etc which love to thrash the hard drive to load the environments as you move around (Assuming you install the game on the SSD). This is the only think that I can recommend you. Anyway, choice is yours. Do whatever you feel good for you.
