Can I add Hard disk with RAID 0 if XHD is disabled?

I am having computer which is having Gigabyte motherboard along with Intel processor on it. I recently bought a new hard disk as I was having less space on my operating system hard drive. I have installed windows 7 operating system in my hard disk having XHD disabled and now I want to add my new hard disk on my computer with RAID 0. So my question is that would it be possible to add hard drive or I will have to install windows 7 again to use the new hard disk.

I have read your question and found that you want to add a new hard disk to your computer in RAID 0 modes and with that it should get detected with windows 7. I had gone through this RAID 0 as well as XHD before but what I did is that before installing windows operating system I installed XHD and then I have read that it is possible to add new hard drive after. But as you haven’t done with XHD I guess you won’t be able to add new hard disk.

In order to find out what exactly the solution that is to add new hard drive into the computer although XHD not available, I searched and tried for the correct answer and in the end I came up with the conclusion saying that in order to have your new hard disk work with RAID 0 you will need to reinstall the windows. So I think you should either have XHD install first and then reinstall the windows you want and then you would be able to add new hard disk with RAID 0.

I found that there is one chance where you would be able to add new hard drive with RAID 0 although no XHD on your system. I am not sure about the solution which I am telling because I have never tried this but instead I found this on one article which says that you need to have Acronis plus pack utility and then install the same. But before this try to read about this utility and how it works. I heard that it clones the currently installed OS and then it allows you to have the hardware setup which you want and then reinstall the same.

The one which you want is possible if you want your hard disk just for data transfer and other related stuff. If you choose your new hard disk to have operating system on it then it is not possible in your case. So if you are trying to have your new hard disk only for data transfer purpose and not as a boot drive for your computer then you may add the hard disk on your computer and then use it as you want leaving boot drive untouched.

It is very true that you could use the new hard drive for data disc, so I would guide you how to do the same as it involves certain steps for it. First of all if you have any data on your new disk then back up all your data and then add your drive to your computer. Now you need to set your drive to RAID 0 in BIOS from dual set as you want and then save all you settings and start back your computer. Then go to disk management and then set a drive letter for the drive and then use it as you want.
