Can Kinect be useful for PC

I want to know that can we use the kinect on the PC yet? Or in other words I mean to say is that can we use a viable HTPC controller? Also I want to know that can it be used as a standard webcam to make make Skype calls? Also can it be used to control the desktop as a real tool and not as a one that gets tiresome after a few minutes? Please do get back to me on this as I am waiting for the solutions on this particular issue.

I just had a look at the question that you have put up and would say that it's not useful anywhere. This is what I do feel and wont be used for PC’s either. Also I do feel that the potential is certainly there but as someone with no coding experience and no XBOX and would say that there will be any real value in me picking one up.But I do dearly hope that something like this should actually come out in near future and that will definitely help us.

I would say that the Kinect SDK has been announced for Windows. So this will be an great news for all of us and there wont be any kind of problems at all. But at the same time I do feel that there will be some applications and games for windows coming out as well. So this is the reason why Microsoft has already signalized they will work together with the hardware and I am quite sure about this news.

I would say that it would be really very great to see the kinetic on the PC and actually to be frank I would say that its surprising that it’s not out on the PC. But even I am really looking for it and feel that this should come as soon as possible. Btu the thing is that the Kinect SDK has been announced for Windows as someone suggested before and hence I feel that it would be great if we go ahead and get the Kinect in future.

Thanks a lot for the solutions that you have given to me and would say that this is something that I was actually looking out for. I would say that even I am very eager to know the when is the Kinect SDK for PC is going to come out.I am very much eager and excited for it and would just love having it. Also I would say that if there are any other solutions to this other than this then do get back to em immediately as I am waiting for the replies.
