Installing a 500GB drive in Asus Eee pc 1000hd/xp

I am trying to install a 500 gb drive in to the Asus Eee pc 1000hd/xp. Earlier it had a 120GB hard drive and now I am thinking of upgrading It and thinking of switching to the 500gb one. Now in the process I have used apricorn module along with the ez gig 888 cloning software that will allow me to copy all the files from the old drive to the new drive. Now the problem is that on checking the size of the new drive installed the size is only shown to be 120 Gb that’s the same size which we had got earlier. So what to do in this situation. Can you all suggest me anything?

Well have you checked with the bios. If you are taking the information of what is shown in the total free disk space available then it is not the correct method to know the hard disk information. So In such situation I would advice you to have a proper check in the bios and see what information is been displayed there and if the information that you find there is accurate then you do not need to worry the hard disk is not at fault and if the bios information is also showing 120 gb then it might be the fault of hard disk itself. So I hope you have understood what I am trying to say here.

In such situation I would advice you to have a proper firmware upgrade of the driver. It is very important in this situation to have the latest firmware for your system. See if you are able to get proper output in this situation. So that’s what I am trying to say do your firmware upgrade properly and ensure that you have the latest firmware in your system. I think you might not be having a proper firmware and hence this kind of problem. So have a proper check of the same.

If you ask me then i would say it is always advisable to have a talk with the technical support staff. They are the ones who can give you some useful help. Go and report the problem to them in their websites or have a direct talk with them about the problem. So that’s what I have to say here and I must say that they would be able to give you some good solutions for this problem. So I hope you have got what I am trying to speak here. Do work on it accordingly.

Yes I did understand that and I also know the seriousness of this problem. Yes I did have a check at the bios and it is showing me a hardsik space of 120GB and hence I think that might be the reason why it is not showing me some good encouraging results. So I think basically it is a fault of hardware and I will have a talk with the asus support staff about the same and see what do they respond in such situation. Anyways thanks for responding well for my query.
