    Printer properties cannot be displayed

There is some strange problem with my printer that I am not able to resolve. Actually, whenever I try to open the properties of the printer by right clicking in the printer and selection the properties then it shows me the following error message.
“Printer properties cannot be displayed. The print spooler service is not running”
I tried all the things that I know to solve the problem but all that were jyuust waste of time. So I am leaving the thread here so that I can get some idea from other people. If you have any information that can help me then please let me know about that.

There is one solution that might help you. All you have to do is to select start and open control panel. You will see many of the sections over there. Just select Administrative Tools from there and select Services. Here you will have to Scroll down from the list available and click on Print Spooler and then choose start. StartUp must be set to Automatic to reduce the chance that it won't start or will rapidly stop. So try this and see if this helps you.

It can also be the problem with the driver that you are having installed in your computer. I am not 100 percent sure about this but it can be one of the most possible reason s for this. The driver might be corrupted or not functioning properly. My suggestion to you is to search for the latest driver available for your printer and install that to your computer. I have seen many of the cases where installing the latest driver solves the issues like this and I hope that this will do the same for you as well. Please reply if it solves the problem for you.

I think that you will have to restart the Printer spooler over again to see if that can help you get out of the problem or not. To restart the Printer spooler, please go through the steps given below.
    1. First of all click on Start button
    2. Select Run
    3. Enter “Services.msc” with no quote marks
    4. Press Enter.
    5. Scroll toward Print Spooler – must illustrate if spooler is running
    6. from the left side, click start otherwise restart.
    7. Otherwise double click then put start up to auto as well as click apply and OK.

Everyone have rights to print to a domain printer by default but if you are getting the problems like this then there can be any of these three issues mentioned below.
    • Ensure that no group policy prevent to everyone utilize the printer.
    • Ensure everyone group is scheduled within the security.
    • As this is workgroup workstation, you might require to re- the cached credentials.

i couldn't print from a remote, although the print spooler was running. it was a network printer, but i could print a test page from the print server. when i tried to print from the remote i got the following message:

printer properties cannot be displayed. the print spooler service is not running.

    i downloaded trendmicro's housecall

i chose the Download HouseCall 7.2 Beta (32-bit)

the file HousecallLauncher downloaded to my documents\downloads, and i ran it. it found:

    afd.exe

and fixed it. problem solved. thanks trendmicro
