Hard drive problem with Dell dimension e 310

I have a Dell Dimension e310 laptop. I am using this from last 3 months and it was working fine till yesterday. But last night when I tried to on the laptop then it does not detect the hard drive. I tried to boot that for 3 to 4 times and after that it detects the hard drive. Please tell me that what I should do to fix this issue. Thank you!!!

I think that your system has the hard drive controller for which Windows has no driver. Now days, it is typically a SATA controller but it can also be the RAID setup or an obscure product. I think that you need a driver for this. Search for the latest driver available on web and download that. Install it on your computer and this will solve the issue.

As you told that your system was working fine before and it started showing you error from last night. So you can try to restore the system. Start your computer in safe mode and restore your computer to some other date. Open the restore utility and select the date one week back and restore. This will restore your computer to the settings at that point of time. This will be the best way to solve the issue for you.

Before moving to any other solution you should check for the connection of the hard drive to the motherboard. As you told that after 2 to 3 tries it get started again. So there is more possibility for loose connection. Remove the cable and connect that again properly. You can also try to change the cable for connection because there ma y be problem with the cable itself.

You can try all the things that you know and also the suggestions posted above. If that are not able to solve the issue for you then you can move for the re-installation of the operating system. Do a clean install to your system and see whether that helps you to solve the problem or not. There is more possibility that it will solve the problem for you and if that is not able to solve that then it must be some problem with the hard drive. It may be crashed and so cannot be detected.
