What is better to buy HDD or SSD

I have a Intel Core duo processor with a Window's 7 Operating system. My system has two HDD. The first HDD is for the main system and the second one is for the backup. One day suddenly, i lost my second HDD it just failed to respond. Now i am stuck with it while the other second HDD is responding properly. After this incident i have lost faith on the hdd. Now i am thinking of buying a SSD. Do SSD are available at the same price range of HDD. Do these SSD are available in the same memory size of the HDD like 1TB. Please do reply as early as possible for my query.

Firstly i would suggest you to recover the data from the DEAD HDD. You can probably do it by the various recovery software's available in the internet. One such software is the Easeus data recovery software. From this software all the files unless it is corrupted can be regained using the software. It is very necessary to keep the file's backed up. I also wanted to know if your HDD is of seagate. There are various problems regarding the seagate memory issues. I would suggest you to replace the HDD as soon as possible.

If you opt for SSD's then i suggest that you go ahead with it. SSD's are available in the same memory size of the HDD. Though SSD are much expensive than the HDD. You can say that they are 10 times as expensive as HDD. Though the price of both HDD and SSD's are dropping per year but still the basic difference will remain same. SSD's are termed as more safe then the traditional HDD's because SSD's have no moving parts. So SSD's can sustain damage upto 1500 Gs of shock while the HDD can sustain damage upto 600 Gs. These figure's will suggest you that SSD are far more better than the HDD in terms of performance.

SSD's are in a much demand in the market. SSD's in various sector's beats HDD in various benchmarks like the read write operation, various I/O operation all the tests shows that SSD's clearly surpasses HDD's. Computer speed increases due to the SSD. Now to select a SSD or HDD is totally upon you. According to your case you are looking for a safety of the data then i would suggest you SSD. A 50 GB HDD can be priced at $50 while the same size SSD will be charged at $250 or higher. So if you think that the price is not an issue then opt for SSD otherwise go for a HDD with 7200 rpm with a much better performance and also it will be cheap.
