Your problem is that you want to use 4 GB ran in your Intel® Desktop Board D975XBX. From my knowledge , Your boards have four DIM M sockets. Its support the 1.8 V and 1.9 V DDR2 S DRAM DIM M. So check your 4 GB ram with it. Conform your mother Compatibility , if it support it then use it. why you need two 4GB ram. 4GB ram is more then enough for your Intel® Desktop Board D975XBX.

Your Intel® Desktop Board D975XBX support 8 GB maximum total system memory. So i think that no need to attach or use two 4GB ram(Read access memory) in it. 4Gb memory is more than enough. But You really want to attach or use 8 GB memory in your Intel® Desktop Board D975XBX so first check id it support your Intel® Desktop Board D975XBX or not. If it support so you use it.

You want to use 4 GB memory in your Intel® Desktop Board D975XBX but it not possible to use it in your Intel® Desktop Board D975XBX.Intel® Desktop Board D975XBX have four DIM M sockets it doesn't support to 4 GB ram. It support 2GB ram so here you can add 2GB ram. And also you can add another 4*2 GB ram. That mean you can use maximum 8 GB ram i9n your Intel® Desktop Board D975XBX.

Intel® Desktop Board D975XBX have four DIM M sockets and it support DDR2 667 S DRAM DIM M and 533 MHz S DRAM DIM M.Your Intel® Desktop Board D975XBX have DIM M sockets and DIM M Capacity is 128 MB, 256 MB, 512 MB, 1024 MB, 2048 MB ram.So you are not able to use 4 GB ram in your Intel® Desktop Board D975XBX. So You can use maximum to maximum 2 GB ram in 1 DIM M socket. If you want to use 4 GB ram so use 2 socket with 2 GB ram respectively.
